10K Day: Live, While It’s Happening! – November 19

Note for new arrivals: The 10K Day starts on the morning of Thursday, November 19. Your exact starting time is up to you.

“I Brake For Squirrels” (and 10K Day nuts)

“I Brake for Squirrels” (and 10K Day nuts)

WELCOME TO ALL those plucky writers who are participating today!

This is the place to post your check-ins.

To learn more about this event, check the special 10K Day section (see blog menu above). If you develop a case of writer’s block—or you need some extra ideas on what to write—you’ll find plenty of inspiring resources in the Write NOW! section.

DON’T FORGET TO TAKE REGULAR BREAKS!

You’ll regret it later (when you’re feeling fried) if you don’t take regular breaks. Even if you’re on fire with your writing, take your scheduled breaks.

Every two hours is recommended. Breaks are also for posting check-ins.

WHAT SHOULD YOU POST FOR YOUR CHECK-INS?

Comment moderation will be turned off for the day so your posts should appear right away. If you don’t see yours, try refreshing your screen.

Keep check-ins fairly brief:

1. You can mention your word count if you want to. If you’d rather not, please provide a general comment about your progress thus far.

2. You can also describe what you’re working on.

3. Feel free to mention how you’re feeling and how the day is going for you.

4. It’s always fun to hear what people are drinking, snacking on or listening to.

5. Check-ins only. Please DO NOT post your writing! (The comment section will become unwieldy if writers try to post stories/chapters from their novel.)

DON’T FORGET TO log out of forums, Facebook, Twitter, email, etc.

Go gettum, Tigers! – Milli

I’ll be here! 😀 I’ll probably work on my Fox Redman story. I started it before Nanowrimo, but never finished it. 🙂

I’ll be here as well. Back to screenplay work. Got caught up in philosophy and the meaning of life and stuff.

    Good Morning Happy 10K’ers!

Hope the day finds you inspired and ready to break those pencils.

I have work on my agenda today, but will check back to see how things are going here throughout the day.

Good morning, everyone. I’ll be working on my Course Presenter training manual today. Hope to get a bunch written for the new sections. I’m about to jump in the shower and then get started. C U all soon. . . .

I’ll be working on my NaNo novel, a dark fantasy titled Race to 100 Deaths. I’m way behind, so need any words I can get today! Write on, everyone.

I’m almost ready to begin. I’m not shooting for a specific word count. I’m just going to write as much as I can from now until 3:00 p.m. CST!

Hey there, Lois, Wolfie, Feywriter. Welcome!

Like you, Lois, I’m not going for a word count today. The project I’m working on is too bitsy and piecy (lots of formatting work, plus adding new sentences or paragraphs here and there) so it would be tedious to try to count words. It’ll be more meaningful to count how many sections I finish.

Meanwhile, I’ve just finished three pages of journaling where I dumped out all the blahs and other greeblies (and allowed my handwriting to be messy and illegible), so now I’m ready to roll.

I’m ready to get started after I grab a bite to eat. Not sure I’ll hit 10k- I’ve been so long out of my novel that I now feel it necessary to go back and re-read a few pages to put me back into it. The good news is I ‘ve got a few pages of writing prompts left over from my last (cough*failed*cough) 10k day, so that should help!

Happy writing all, check back soon!

    I’ve written a 550 word article. I’m on a roll now! LOL

@Milli, I haven’t journaled in over a week. I think I will today. Thanks for the reminder 🙂

@Lois, I think you’ll enjoy getting away from the novel for a bit. You’ve worked really hard. Visiting with Fox will be a real treat for you.

The past week, for me, has been less than inspirational and a bit challenging. The inspiration is back but the ability to focus on one project for very long is still “out there.”

I’m going to enjoy a nice cup of tea, write in my journal and then let the muse go wild.

    Happy Writing!

    Hello Everyone,

I’ve started. I’m at 700 words. I have several projects on my list: editing two contest entries, a writing assignment to clean up, and web copy for two projects. I will pop in and out throughout the day.

I’ve finished another lesson in the training manual. This is the only one I’ve finished so far (and, yikes!, it’s already 1 p.m. here), but it was an important section—and a challenging one to put together—so I guess that’s good progress.

I’m off to take a break.

Just finished lunch, so it’s time to get busy!

Was hoping to be all productive today, but not even a thousand words in and my wrist starts hurting. And despite a heater nearby, my fingers don’t want to warm up today. Ugh.

Got a ton of editing done, and about 12oo words under my belt before my puppy started nosing under mt elbows and trying to climb into my lap :/ I really don’t feel like taking him for a walk. I think I’ll throw him out back and maybe get some writing done on the back stoop while he chases squirrels 🙂

…really, 45 pounds is too large for curled up in your lap naps!

    I have returned! 😀

I took a break for lunch and a couple of other short breaks. The rest of the time was spent writing and I’ve now added approximately 5,327 words to my Fox Redman story. Patti, you’re so right. It was a real treat spending time with Fox! 😀

Milli: I just didn’t think I should overdo it today. I just had a personal 10K Day on Sunday, since I missed Saturday, and my wrists have been a little sore lately. That said, they didn’t bother me too much today, because I was taking it easy. I honestly don’t know how I got to 5K! 😛 Hope the training manual is coming along. 🙂

Good luck to everyone still writing. You can do it!

I’ve finished two more lessons in the training manual. Slow going today.

    Time to cook some dinner.

Looks like I’m the last one standing. 🙂

I reached my goal of finishing Section Four of the Course Presenter Training Manual. That was the longest, hardest section to put together. Whoo hoo! I’m so glad that’s done.

    ‘Night, all.

Where did the day go? I did not add not have a impressive word count. However, I worked on three key projects. I added about 2k words. I feel good about the content I produced today.

Congrats to everyone. Have a wonderful night.

I see two other late-nighters! This is really rare for me, but I had to stop work earlier and take care of personal things, then discuss Thanksgiving with my daughter. We pick her up from college on Monday.

I wanted to work another hour tonight, but considering I don’t usually work this late, the words are all blurry. I worked on several projects today but didn’t make real headway with any of them—a little at a time does pay off though.

I hope this had made sense.

    Congrats to everyone! Sweet Dreams!
