WELCOME TO ALL those plucky writers who are participating this week!
This is the place to post your check-ins for Wed., May 18 and/or Saturday, May 21.
To learn more about this event, check the 10K Day section (see blog menu above).
DON’T FORGET TO TAKE REGULAR BREAKS!
You’ll regret it later (when you’re feeling fried) if you don’t take regular breaks. Even if you’re on fire with your writing, take your scheduled breaks.
Every two hours is recommended. Breaks are also for posting check-ins.
WHAT SHOULD YOU POST FOR YOUR CHECK-INS?
TIP: If you don’t see your comment right away after posting, try refreshing your screen.
1. You can mention your word count if you want to. If you’d rather not, please provide a general comment about your progress thus far.
2. You can also describe what you’re working on.
3. Feel free to mention how you’re feeling and how the day is going for you.
4. It’s always fun to hear what people are drinking, snacking on or listening to.
DON’T FORGET TO log out of forums, Facebook, Twitter, email, etc.
Go gettum, Tigers! – Milli
Good Morning writers!
It’s 11:20 UK time and a late start for me. However, I’ve cleared my desk, scanned my notes and am now all set.
See you in a few hours for check in.

Sidenote: Wish I was in the UK with Kate. 🙂
I’ve checked email. That’s always a bad idea before work. LOL. Now I have to get back into work mode.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Hugs!

It’s another rainy, rainy day here in Ohio. I just got up after a massive sleep of eleven hours and I know nothing until I have my coffee. 😉
Twitter: pattistafford
Wow Millikins,
I can’t remember the last time I slept eleven hours. I was probably sickie. 🙁 Hope you feel rested and ready to go after you get some caffeine in you. 🙂
Big Hugs!
Patti
Good morning!
I’ve cleared my morning to work on writing (I think). Got the garden work done last night (yes, nearly in the dark) and went to the local market for fresh veggies this morning (I love the smell of fresh cilantro in the morning). I have an appointment at my son’s school later this afternoon. That leaves oh, about 5 hours to write.
I think today will be about working on posts for my photo blog/portfolio.
Hope everyone has an awesome day! I’ll check back in a couple of hours with, hopefully, progress. =)

Woot! Glad you get a day of writing in, Maria. “I was starting to get a little worried about you.”
Say that line in your best Chlois Leachman voice from the movie, “Walk Like a Man.” Well, if you’ve seen it. If not, just use her voice anyway. LOL
Good morning everyone! It’s 6:50am and I need my cuppa! See you in a while and good luck today to everyone…

Good morning to Catherine and the west coast!
Hope you have a beautiful day!
Hugs!

Synopsis writing is tough and I’m still not happy! However it’s a lot better than it was this morning and the query letter is finished.
I’m not sure if it will be ready today but I’m making good progress and am now in desperate need of chocolate.
Hope you are all having a great writing day
P.s Patti, where are you in the world?
Twitter: pattistafford
Oh Kate, I’m stuck in the states. Bleh!
My hubby’s ancestors are from Staffordshire–the whole Stafford castle clan. Mine are from Scotland–the Criech castle clan.
And we just feel the need to go “home.” Although we’ve never actually been there, we feel “homesick.”
One day…:)
Good Morning all from Toronto. It is a perfect rainy day for writing.
My first task is to get a blog post up and then it is time to dig into my non-fiction work in progress (A Play Manifesto).
Here’s to a great writing day for all!

Hi (Another) Kate!
I’m digging into non-fiction too. Hope you have glorious progress.

This is not my first break, but my first check in here since this morning.
I’m working on editing reports today. I want to get a lot of free giveaways up on my site and need these compiled and edited. I am enjoying the work though, so it’s all good.
I’ve commented on other blogs, so I have been composing words. 🙂
Have a great one!

Just did an hour of journaling on the couch with a real pen. The sun keeps peeking out of the rainclouds, tempting me to go for a bike ride. If my weather guy (Brian) has encouraging news for me after he studies his mysterious maps and charts, I think I’ll do that first before I switch to writing on the computer. We don’t get enough sun here in Ohio to waste any of it.
Glad to see folks making progress.
I just got my blog post up.
Now to find a pen to do the freefall writing I like to do before jumping into drafting – and it’s time for another cup of coffee.
I’m late, but I’m not shooting for 10K today, anyway. I’m shooting for any writing…any fiction writing, that is. 🙂
I’m thinking of revisiting one of my old characters, a certain young photographer, first…

Went for my bike ride and managed to elude the rain. Now I’m back at my desk with the crisp spring air flowing in through my open window and a cup of cocoa steaming on my desk.
I’ve changed my ID for check-ins because I’ve decided to devote the rest of the day to travel stories.
~ Milli
Just checking in before lunch. Alas, writing hasn’t occurred (Patti, ya spoke too soon 🙂 ) but I have been working on editing photos for copyright and adding them to my blog/portfolio. Since this is all new for me, the progress is slow but still progress.
Keep up the good work! 🙂
Milli: As happens, my character has just traveled a good distance…from San Diego, California to London, England. It seems her grandmother’s family comes from England and Wales, and my character did a little research and found the old family property has been, and still is, up for sale. Funny thing is, the man (love interest) she’s just met isn’t English, but Hindi. 😉 He’s a photographer and wants to photograph her “new” property. 🙂
The story’s at 3,158 words, so far! 😀
When I started, I had a bowl of beef stew and a cup of decaf Chai Spice tea. Now I’m just drinking water.
After several days of writing nothing, it feels great to be writing again. And believe it or not, I didn’t plan this story. I’m just letting it come to me as I go. 🙂
I just got back from my “Mindful Writer’s” group. I have to travel an hour to get there and an hour back. I got about 1K words done there. I’m not shooting toward 10K today, but I will try to get as much as possible. Good luck, everyone.
Twitter: millivrstravels
Got some writing done that wasn’t on my agenda. Bonus.
Finally after that I logged into my travel blog and posted a new story. Only 128 words for that one—but I got to write about Darth Vadar. >:-}

~ Milliver
I didn’t end up doing any writing today. I had some things to take care of and ended up deciding to do my 10K day on Saturday. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a few K in before the rapture. :~)
Keep up the good work everyone!
catherine
Cute article, Milli! 😀
Well, I’m wrapping up the day with 4,274 words. I’ve got the beginning of a great story. I can’t wait to see where it goes from here. 🙂
Good luck to everyone still writing. You can do it!
Lois
Got off track this afternoon with a crucial non-writing phone call. Not sure I’m going to get a chance to dig in and do anything more than a letter tonight.
At least I got that blog post up.
Kate

I got another travel story finished that will be posted on Saturday. It was the longest story I’ve ever done for Milliver’s and will feature 18 photos, so I spent a ton of time formatting the post. But very happy with my 10K Day and looking forward to Saturday’s 10K Day too.
‘Night all!

No writing this afternoon. I do most of my writing in the morning anyway. I did some brainstorming and a bit of planning. Going to relax a bit and then sleep on it.
It was a great day!
Good morning all! It is 6am on the West Coast USA and I’m ready for a productive day working on journaling in a special book and several blog posts for myself and others.
Hope you all have a wonderful day with your writing!
catherine 🙂

And you KNOW how excited Milliver is that Milliver’s Travels is one of the “others” you’ve alluded to. 😀
Yeah, and I’m excited because I had a great photo shoot yesterday of the subject!!!

WHOO HOO!!!! Love that news!!!

‘Morning, all. It’s another gorgeous sunny day here in Yo’town, Ohio. About to drink cappuccino (made from beans freshly ground by hubby) while I do some journaling on the couch.
~ Milli
Twitter: millivrstravels
Just did 70 minutes of journaling by hand on the couch. Now about to bake some blueberry muffins to go with a brunch of eggs and sausage. And then I’ll fire up the PC and get down to bidniss.
~ Milliver
I did a bit of journaling then went off to get my locks sheared a tiny bit. I’m back now and after some toast and jelly I’m firing up my MacBook.
Looks like there’s only the two of us so far today. It’s sunny and bright here and I’m really psyched about my projects.
🙂 catherine
Twitter: millivrstravels
I’m psyched with my stuff too. Between the two of us we can generate enough energy for it to feel like a 10K Day when everybody’s here. 😀 😀
P.S. Square-Peg Karen stopped in to say Hello. See below.
Yeah…it’s all coming together! 🙂 🙂
Have fun Milliver!

Hello! Hello! Looks we’re still here (no Rapture yet) – I can’t come out and play today because I have a bunch of shopping trips to get in, but will be thinking of you all!
Happy Writing!
Hi Square-Peg Karen! Thanks for stopping in to cheer us on…
Nope no Rapture yet, he he.
Have fun shopping today. Be sure to pick up enough supplies to get you through the end of the world.
🙂 catherine
Twitter: SquarePegKaren
Ohmyword, Catherine – I think I DID get enough supplies to last through the end of the world! Happy to be back – and since it’s a 10K day, I think I’m going to push on into some writing!
Hey, it’s sunny here too – and that after so much rain I thought the ark was going to get us before the Rapture. Loving the sun – sun and writing and some writing pals – wow!
Ok, off to it – I’ll check back later.
ha ha ha … let’s load up your ark with all the goodies and sail into the sunset!
Hey Milli and Karen – Ronald and I just had a mango pineapple strawberry coconut water yogurt lime chia seed smoothie out on the deck in the sun. Now I’m headed back to my travel post.
I’m having a great day – fun hanging out with both of you.
Leftovers are ready for later, so I can write easily without stopping to think “what’s for din din?”

I’ve been so INTO my writing I forgot to do my check-ins 😀 Just a few mad dashes to the kitchen for a drink of water and a quick break.
Karen, how fun that you decided to join us after hauling in your ark supplies.
Catherine, I’m the same. I’ve got something super-quick lined up for dinner, and B. will probably cook it for me, so I can stay on the trail of my happy writing adventures.

I’m bailing, folks! I got a lot of stream of consciousness writing done, which really loosens up my creativity — but nothing I’m doing word counts on. And now – the rains have begun again, so I think I’ll go check to make sure I’ve got enough nails for building an ark. Or maybe I’ll take a nap…
Happy Writing lovely ones!!!
Twitter: SquarePegKaren
oops, there was supposed to be a comma between Happy writing and Lovely ones (and also supposed to be a capital “L”) – guess i’ll go for the nap instead of the nails.
LOL! on the nap instead of the nails. Your stream of consciousness writing sounds fab! I don’t think anyone here today was counting words, so you’re in good company.
Hope to see you here next month. 🙂
~ Milli
Yikes – more rain Karen!!
Anyway the 3:00 end of the world has come and gone and we’re still afloat. We made it! Time to put the ark away for another day, so hang up your nails girl. 🙂
Yeah, I’m not counting either, Milli, but it’s a real productive day anyway and my story + pictures is close to complete.
We just stopped for chix wings and rice leftovers and a spot of Doc Martin humor. Back to my blog post now…
cheers ~ catherine

Got three blog posts done and a bunch of journaling. Very happy with the day’s work and I enjoyed what I wrote.
I’m off to read a guest blogger post that just got submitted 😀 and then a quick bike ride in the park before sunset.
Yeah! I had a productive day doing the guest blog post! I’m excited to find out what you think.
Glad you had a good day. Bike ride sounds perfect.
I’m closing up for the day and off to watch a great movie.
ciao!
