NEW! HELPFUL READING FOR YOUR 10K DAY
(opens in a new browser window so you won’t lose your place)
What I Learned from My First 10K Day by 10K participant Taryn Blake

Well, it’s 10K Day somewhere in the world. It’s 9:30 pm here, CST or CDT (whichever we’re on at the moment.)
I don’t know if I will sit up for awhile and start writing tonight, or get some sleep and start in the morning. Our schedule is so whacked, I’m surprise I remember my name these days.
Anywho, Hope everyone has an Awesome Day of Writing!
It’s 12:07pm here already… Didn’t manage to start writing before, and I won’t have much time now before it’s time to eat. So it’s not going to be an ideal 10k day for me, but I’ll take all the little moments I can get to write, and if I make it to 1000, 2000 words or more, well it will already be something.
Twitter: pattistafford
I slept. Yay!
It’s roughly 7:00 am here in Missouri. There’s been a change of plans, but that’s okay.
I will be doing mostly hand writing today so I won’t have a word count, but I’ve already started my writing day.
Breakfast was coffee, vitamins, water, and a slice of buttered wheat bread. 🙂
Have a great day!
~Patti

Good Morning, All,
It’s 8:20 a.m. and shaping up to be a hot day in Yo’town, Ohio. I’m about to make some coffee and then settle in on the couch for some journaling first up.
~ Milli
Mornin’ Milli! 🙂
OK I wrote a bit over 1000 words already. I am pretty happy already considering the circumstances. Now it will be time to pack, drive home, get the cat (we are getting a kitten for the first time, and tonight is the first time we bring her home…), and then we have a friend coming over for dinner.
So to be honest, I am not sure I will get much more writing done today, but I am happy with the experience already. When I RSVPed on Sunday, I thought I might as well start writing early, so I have been writing a bit over 1000 words on Monday and on Tuesday, which brings my wordcount for the three days to about 3300 words and that’s an achievement for me. I will keep on writing over 1000 words or more every day (it’s good practice for NaNoWriMo).
So thank you for this opportunity, and I hope to make it next month.
Good luck to everyone today and on Saturday!
That’s really a good deal for your first time Armelle. 🙂
Lot’s of luck with the new kitten. We just brought a new one home on Father’s Day and well, he’s been a handful to say the least. 😀
Keep writing some every day. That really IS the best practice for NaNo and just a good habit to get into anyway. Hope to see you often. 🙂
Twitter: fearofwriting
Armelle, loved your update! How wonderful that you did your 10K Day over successive days to make up for plans you already had. Congrats on the 3.300 words! And congrats on the new kitten. Have fun letting kitty run your life for the next several weeks. LOL!
Very pleased to have you as a new 10K-er and we’ll look forward to the next time you can join us.
~ Milli
P.S. You inspired me so much with your RSVP, I posted a snippet from it on the FoW Facebook page. Check out the entry for yesterday that starts “One way to defeat fear of writing . . .”
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fear-of-Writing/40697624356?v=wall
Haha thanks Milli!! I had seen the facebook post indeed and felt flattered!!
And yes Kitty is running our lives at the moment, but it’s a lot of fun too. She is cuddly, playful, and so sooooo soft!!! But, OK, she meows a lot in the night still… Ah well…
And thanks for your comment Maria! Looks like everyone had a great and productive day!!
Twitter: tarynblake71
Good morning! 7:39 in Central Arkansas and promising to be a scorcher. I’m awake, showered, and have had breakfast. Not in costume yet because Magick isn’t finished with kitty safari. After that, I have to go feed a friend’s dogs. Then I can get into character.
While kitty watches the dragonflies, I’ll get my document for the day set up and get my structure in.
Happy writing!
Twitter: tarynblake71
First hour got me 680 words. Calling time on kitty safari so I can go feed friend’s dog and then get into costume.
Great start Taryn! And yes, Arkansas is already miserable with heat. I got out and watered early but the humidity or dew point was giving me problems breathing. It’s definitely a good day to stay in and write. 🙂
Twitter: pattistafford
Two articles in rough draft, in hand written form. Seems a bit slow going, but I’ll take it.
I need to give my wrist a break and my eyeballs too.
Hope everyone is having a fantastic time! Yay!
Yay Patti! You will do fine. Might need to swap to the computer to save the wrists. Don’t forget to rest your eyes as well. Milli’s idea for a warm, moist washrag over them for a few minutes helped me tons during NaNo and helped slow down the squigglies.
Twitter: millivrstravels
Have eaten breakfast (poached eggs and cinnamon toast) plus whipped out two dynamite journaling sessions. Off to have a shower and then switch to my PC for some bloggy-type writing.
~ Milli
Twitter: tarynblake71
Back, costumed up, and ready to get some writing done!
Sounds like everyone is having a good morning so far. Go us 🙂
Good morning all!
I was in the wrong place a minute ago but now I’m here. Whoops!
I have been sick since the weekend (thank you son, for bringing that home from work 😀 ) and so the prepping didn’t go as planned. Did do a bit of thinking though while laid out on the couch, ear to the pillow to make it feel better.
To get back into the groove of my western novels started during NaNo, I’m going to attempt a short along those lines. Yes, I’m still working out characters. 😀 They are slowly coming to me in odd moments, mostly driving down the road in the dark.
I’m looking forward to spending the day with fellow writers. Lot’s of luck to everyone!
And just for old time’s sake…Rawhide! 😀
Twitter: fearofwriting
Maria, glad the ol’ Rawhide brigade is here with us. We’ll all be cracking our writing whips now. 😀
~ Milli
I’m writing in 30 minute increments using my timer. But my husband is beating around the house and has decided to turn up his talk radio (nothing new) and so my first timed writing is just under 200 words/2 paragraphs. Hope to do better next round. Now off for a bite to eat move to the office (must clean it up as the kitten attacked everything).
Twitter: tarynblake71
Awww….how old is your kitten?
Twitter: tarynblake71
I’m up to 1250. Time for a Shiva Nata break.
Twitter: fearofwriting
1250, eh? Goodonya. 😀
We think he is only around 3 months old. He goes through intense bursts of energy and runs/scoots/crawls/climbs all over the place, then conks out. Life is never boring around here. 😀
And you’re doing great! Keep it going. 🙂
Twitter: tarynblake71
Thanks! Our kitty is 3 years old now and calming down some. They are such a handful when they’re little, but too cute to stay mad at — Mother Nature definitely knew what she was doing there, lol.
Twitter: pattistafford
Only three articles so far. Not where I wanted to be, but I waited a bit too long for lunch and got a little shaky.
Sounds like everyone is doing a great job though! Keep up the good work!
~Patti
Twitter: tarynblake71
I think three articles by lunchtime is fabulous! And thanks for the reminder. I need to eat something too.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Pattikins, I second that. Three articles by lunchtime sounds like you’re in groove.
Taryn, did your plan for healthier eating choices work out this time?
Twitter: tarynblake71
Yes. I’m happy to report that I’ve not hit the junk food so far! And I have a bag of chili lime flavored almonds on standby in case I need some afternoon crunch.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Awesome, Taryn. (We have to make sure you live up to your own tips, right? LOL :D)
Hey, sharesies on those chili lime flavored almonds? Those sound delish!
Twitter: tarynblake71
*passes the almonds*
They are Planters brand and come in a resealable bag instead of a can. I think I found them at Walgreens.
I’m very late, as it’s already 1:15 in ol’ Arkansy. I’ve been working on the RP, which has to do with the story I’m writing, but I can’t add all that in because it would be too time consuming. Let’s just say I wrote about 1K for the first half of the day (much less than I would if I’d been working on an actual story) and take it from there, shall we? 😉
My story involves my favorite character, Lucky Raven, and it’s combined with a friend’s fan-fic, so I can’t really say too much about it. But it’s been going well, and I plan on having at least four pages to send her by the end of the day.
Sooooo, I’d better get busy!
Current Music: Disciple, one of my top favorite bands!
Currently Drinking: Ozarka water
Currently Eating: nothing (just had lunch…a turkey burger on whole grain bread with baby carrots and cucumber slices), but I have a Kashi TLC Dark Mocha Almond Chewy Granola Bar beside me in case I need a snack before dinner.
Goal for the Day: Four pages in my story
Good luck, everyone!
Lois
Twitter: fearofwriting
Wow, what an update! That’s like the most classic 10K Day update I’ve ever seen. It’s got one of everything. LOL!
Glad to have you with us, as always, and late doesn’t matter (time is an illusion, they say) and I’m happy to hear you’re working with your favorite character. With that name, he certainly sounds like a lucky charm!
~ Milli
P.S. Check out Raven as an animal totem. Maybe this is connected somehow with your character:
http://linsdomain.com/totems/pages/raven.htm
LOL! The Raven has a lot to do with who Lucky is, as happens. In fact, I researched them yesterday so Lucky could tell another character how he got his name. Thanks for the link! I’ll add it to my arsenal. 😀
I’m not sure how long K will be gone. Once she returns, there will be more role play, so I want to get as much story in as I can before then. 🙂
It’s so good to be here! *happy dance*
Lois
I was asked to come in and do some web work for my administrator this morning. I’m going to get the laptop and settle in for some word-churning!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Hi Tess! Glad you could make it. Happy word-churning. 😀
~ Milli
1000 words so far in about an hour…feeling great about that!!!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Awesome!! That’s definitely worth feeling great about. 🙂
Just shy of 2000 – have some errands to run. I’ll be back in a couple of hours. Excited about how much I’m writing – and noticing it’s 99% narrative. Come on dialog!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Congrats on the 2K, Tess!
If you were old like me you could talk to yourself out loud and soon have tons of dialogue to write. 😉
C U after errands.
~ Milli
I came back and did about 600 more words. It’s not 10K, but I’m SOOOOOOOOO happy!!!!
Milli, I’m so very happy I stumbled upon this challenge. I’m going to continue to join in, as well as see how I can incorporate this into my middle school Creative Writing class. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
One of the most interesting parts was to see over a solid block of writing how I actually write. I noticed I wrote narrative – thoughts, actions, descriptions. With that foundation, I went back in and started adding dialog. Sometimes, looking for narrative to remove and replace with meaningful dialog. That’s super insight for me!
Thanks once more,
Tess
Twitter: fearofwriting
Tess ~ Any word count that a writer ends up thrilled with is my idea of a successful 10K Day. 🙂 🙂 I’m so glad you were thrilled with your results and I loved all your updates, especially this latest one.
It’s wonderful to hear that by participating you also got some insights on the way you work as a writer. Music to my ears!
We hold two 10K Days every month (you probably already know there’s another one this Saturday) and it’s usually the third week of the month. If you want to keep in touch with the dates and see the RSVP page as soon as it appears, you can subscribe to the blog by RSS or email.
Happy to have you with us!!
~ Milli
That’s great Taryn! 🙂
Not so long ago I was working toward a degree in English at the H.S. level and was looking to add a writing challenge element to my curriculum. I think they are a great way to get the creative juices flowing. Lot’s of luck to you both in your writing and in the classroom. 🙂
Excuse me, I am up in the middle of the night. Tess I got the name mixed up. Lot’s of luck to you Tess. 😀

2715. Thinking it’s time for another Shiva Nata break.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Very cool, Taryn. I like that number.
I’m not familiar with Shiva Nata but I’m assuming it’s Indian or meditational music? Good for winding down or for getting energized?
Twitter: tarynblake71
Shiva Nata is a little hard to explain. It’s related to yoga, but looks more like tai chi or martial arts katas or something. It basically breaks your brain (in a good way) and helps it form new neural pathways.
There is a blog about it here http://shivanata.com/ and you can watch a video here http://shivanata.com/watch/
Twitter: fearofwriting
Cool! Right up my alley. I’ll check out those links.
Have had some home issues that kept me from getting back to writing just yet but I wanted to check in. I’m hoping once the hubby finally tires and goes to bed I’ll be able write some more. Story of my life these days. Talking with Patti, I think we’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll have to stick with incremental writing, as long as I stay after it.
I’ll check back later, hopefully with some progress to report. Meanwhile, keep up the awesome writing everyone! 🙂
Twitter: fearofwriting
Maria, I’ll still be writing this evening, so if you want some company, I’ll be here. 🙂 Meanwhile, incremental is always useful.
Twitter: tarynblake71
I just passed the word count I got last month, so everything the rest of the evening is gravy.
Twitter: christybower
Go, Taryn! A new personal best for you! That’s gotta feel great!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Gravy. Yay!!
Twitter: christybower
I just passed 4K. As I could see it approaching, I was motivated to keep writing, even though I wanted to take a break. It feels great and I have momentum to move forward for several more hours!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Hi Christy!
I didn’t even realize you were here with us. Did I miss an earlier check-in from you? Anyway, 4K is awesome!!
However . . . don’t forget to take some breaks. The burn-out can hit you suddenly otherwise, and then you’ll spend tomorrow trying to recover. 🙂
~ Milli
Twitter: tarynblake71
Go Christy! You’re doing great!
Way to stay after it Christy! The most I’ve ever written in one day was for NaNo and around 2,000 or so. I would love to be able to have the focus and quiet to be able to write that much. 🙂
Twitter: millivrstravels
Forgot to do my own check-ins along the way so here’s one. Just finished a 916-word piece that I’m extremely happy with. 😀
About to have dinner (hubby is in the kitchen banging pots and pans – can’t wait to see what we’re having) and then I’ll retire to the couch for the evening for a marathon journaling session based on some research I’ve been doing. It’s the kind of thing that may never go beyond journaling but it’s going to be amazing to write about. Can’t wait!
~ Milli
Twitter: pattistafford
I didn’t write any more fresh articles, but I’ve started some rewrites of older stuff that I want to use on my site.
I hit the afternoon slump, so will probably type up my handwritten stuff this evening. We’re going back on a day shift tomorrow morning–but we’re still out of whack here. I guess that fits well with a writer and a musician, eh? 🙂
Everyone is doing a fabulous job. The last time I checked in, I think there was only 19 comments. Now there’s 49, plus mine will be 50. Wowsers!
Onward wordy crackers!
~Patti
Twitter: fearofwriting
Patti Cake – This was a fun update to read. I laughed at the part where you said typical for a writer and a musician. 😀 Good luck getting back into whack with the day shift.
I love “wordy crackers”!! Just what I need next time I have alphabet soup. LOL!
Twitter: tarynblake71
4022 and breaking for dinner. I may or may not do more after dinner. It depends on whether dinner gives my brain a second wind or not.
If I don’t check in again, everyone have a great rest of your writing day. Thanks for the support!
Great job Taryn! WTG! Woot woot! 🙂
Twitter: fearofwriting
Way to go on the 4022, Taryn. 🙂 🙂
It’s now 6:30pm and I’m trying to get back to my story. It’s slow going and kinda hard though when I’m in 1800’s western America and my husband is blowing things up in WWII. 😀
Twitter: fearofwriting
Maria, you are such a hoot! 😀
Good luck with those two different eras and settings. Hey, that makes for lots of conflict so you should be good to go! 😉
Twitter: millivrstravels
Just have to share that I went to heaven at dinner time eating the meatballs and pasta hubby made us for dinner. He made it with tons of garlic in the tomato sauce and using Italian sausage for the meatballs, plus some red pepper flakes for extra kick. YUM.
My husband uses the Italian sausage in his meatballs/meat sauce too. It really brings out great flavor. 🙂
Well, I only got to 3,110, but since I added 4-5 pages to the story, I’m happy. I’m back to role playing now, and Lucky just had a nightmare. He blogged about it, and if I add that to the total, it’s just shy of 4K. Not bad, really. 🙂 Next month, I plan on shooting for 10K, but we’ll see.
Dinner: was two sandwiches
Drinking: Ozarka water
Music: Nuno Bettencourt (from Extreme, I’m listening to his solo album, Schizophonic)
Twitter: fearofwriting
Sounds like a handsome day’s work, Lois. Your Lucky Raven is a very switched-on guy, blogging about his nightmares. 😀
Sounds like you made your goals for the day. *high fives*
~ Milli
Lois, glad you were able to dig in and get that word count rolling. Sounds like Lucky has a lot going on. 🙂
Maria, if you go to Hero Diaries and click the topmost journal entry, you can read about Lucky’s nightmare. It alludes to what I wrote in the story today, though it’s far from exact. But steel yourself before you do. Prepare for the worst! 😉
I finally figured out how to get to it Lois and read it. The post itself wasn’t too bad. I’m guessing the actual dream sequence was pretty intense though.
When I write it, I’ll let you know. 😉 The dream in the post actually foretold…sort of…what happened in the story I’ve been writing, which happens some time later. This is all AU, so I’m having fun with it. Of course, “fun” is a relative term when you consider I’m literally torturing our heroes! 😛
Yeah, and it wasn’t your average nightmare, either. Turns out it may have been “sent” to him, maybe a sign of some really bad things to come! O_O
I did! *high fives back*
Thanks!
Lois
Twitter: millivrstravels
Just finished a long session of journaling and now I’m going to take a walk before it gets dark. Then it will be time to clean up the dishes. If I’m not too tired after that, I plan to do one more journaling session before bed.
Awesome Milli! 🙂
I switched to journaling too. Just could not get into the western. Way too much distraction. I hand-wrote three pages of thoughts about our life situation and how plans seem to go astray on days like today since 7:00. Still have a ways to go; lots to get out. But that’s a pretty good amount for me. 🙂
Gonna take a short break and then write till 9:00 when I have to go retrieve the kiddo from work.
By the way, supper was a $1 Turkey TV dinner. Yes, I’m cheap! 😀
And if I miss you Milli, I’m planning 🙂 now to participate Saturday as well, to the best of my ability.
Twitter: millivrstravels
The journaling sounds good, like you’re really getting some stuff off your chest. Just got back from my walk and will be back at it soon myself.
~ Milli
P.S. A $1 turkey TV dinner. LOL! Great 10K Day food, Maria. 😉
😀
Last check-in for me: Was able to get one more hand-written page in before heading out. My husband has just gone to bed and the house is quiet. May write some more when I get back home. If not, tomorrow is another day. 🙂
I had fun hanging out with everyone. Hope to see you next time ’round. Have a great rest of the week! 🙂
Twitter: millivrstravels
Looks like I’m the last man left standing. Shutting down my PC now and I’ll be on the couch journaling till my eyelids get too heavy to see the page.
G’night, all. 🙂
~ Milli
Twitter: millivrstravels
11:20 p.m. My fingers are covered in ink from journaling (jeez, I hate blobby pens). I’m staggering off to bed.
~ Milli
You really did hang in there a while longer Milli! 🙂
I woke back up around 2:30am. Guess I felt the call of the journal entry calling me. So, I spent the next 2 hours finishing up what I’d started. In all, I’ve got 10 hand-written pages of journal entry. I cried a bit along with it, so yes, needed to get some things out of my head and on paper evidently. I intend to write more and one day, it’ll all become a blog that helps others going through what my family has being going through over the past year. That’s the hope anyway.
I’ll be back in some capacity on Saturday to write more, hopefully happier stuff then. 🙂
Twitter: fearofwriting
Maria, what an amazing update. Not only because you wrote for two hours in the middle of the night (!!) but because this sounds like pivotal stuff you were writing. I’m glad you were able to get that down on paper, albeit with some tears. (Sounds like you needed both those kinds of releases.) I hope everything works out for you and your family.
Pleased to hear you’ll be joining us on Saturday. 🙂
~ Milli
Thanks Milli. 🙂
Twitter: pattistafford
I conked out too, and still not back on track, but thankfully we’re back on a day schedule. Yay! It will probably take a few days to get back to “our definition” of normal. LOL
Journaling is GREAT! In fact, it’s better than sliced bread. 🙂
Glad everyone had an Awesome Day!
~Patti
P.S. I should be back in for Saturday’s round. Woot!
Happy Saturday to my fellow writers!
Just thought I’d get the ball rolling today. I woke up at 2:30am again. Seems to be a pattern this week. I’m not getting a ton of writing done but have gotten a bit. The house is fairly quiet except for the kitten getting into everything but that’s what kittens do. 🙂
I’m going with a continuation of a beginning P.I. story started about 3 years back while I was still in an editing class. Ultimately I want to make a series with the main character. This time round I want to concentrate on character building. So far the main character has a next-door-neighbor to who’s somewhere in her 70’s and a nudist who’s recently been served with an injunction to start wearing a robe to get the mail/newspaper. Who knows where this is going?? 😀
Twitter: pattistafford
Morning check-in. It’s 6:30 here in Branson, MO.
I don’t know what time I’ll actually start work, but I have an article to write and several to edit.
Happy Wordy Whipper Crackers!
~Patti
Twitter: millivrstravels
Good Morning, Early Birds,
(You know who you are ;))
I’m having cappuccino with hubby and then I’ll be starting with some journaling. After that, I’ve got a bunch of smallish things with deadlines (mainly feedback for a student), plus a few blog posts I want to get ahead on.
~ Milli
Morning, all. I had to work late last night, so I’m getting a late start this morning, but here I am. I’m working on a novel that I got bogged down in some time ago. After a couple of weeks of preparation, today is the day I leap back in and hope to start making progress again.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Good Morning, Mary. Great to have you with us and your plans for the day sound auspicious. Hope you find your groove early – but, if not, we’ve got all day. 🙂
~ Milli
Twitter: pattistafford
Mary – Kick some novel butt! 😀
Slow start here. I’m having to pound my head with some Billy Squier. Yeah!
However, I finished one rough draft and accidentally started a post for my own blog, so it’s not a bad start, just a bit slower than I hoped for, and not exactly on track. {heehee}
Break time!
~Patti
Twitter: millivrstravels
Finished my first journaling session and then had brunch with Brian – scrambled eggs, sausage and fresh-baked biscuits with jam. About to make a second round of coffee and then settle in for a continuation of the journaling.
~ Milli
I’ve written a bit but only 350 or so. I’ve been watering the gardens, dodging the kitten pretending to be a squirrel, answering grocery list questions, etc. So, to finish off all that fun, we’re headed into town to do part of our monthly shopping to lighten the shopping load for Monday. But, I’m getting my husband to buy me lunch and I’m getting snack supplies so I’ll be ready to roll when we get back.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Good plan, Maria. I especially like the part about having your hubby buy you lunch. 😀 C U back at the ranch after you’ve aced the grocery shopping.
First check-in! I’ve written for two hours. 2225 words. Chapter One is about 2/3 complete. It’s time to check in with the rest of my crew, stand up and stretch, and grab a snack!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Welcome, H.N. Very cool first check-in! Sounds like you’re on a roll already.
~ Milli
This is my first check in… started a new chapter with a new character built right in. Nice, didn’t know that was going to happen until this morning. Thank you, Muse! Having a blast! Time for a snack.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Melissa, I’m thrilled to hear you’re having a blast and being given unexpected bounty to boot. Coolness! C U at your next check-in. 🙂
~ Milli
Twitter: millivrstravels
Just finished a no-holds-barred journaling session and my throat symbolically hurts from all that self-expression. But in a good way, fortunately. 🙂 Now it’s off to the showers, and then fire up the PC for some on-keyboard writing.
~ Milli
Good morning! I was sick on the 20th, so no writing got done.
I’ve eaten breakfast, feeling good, have coffee, and ready to get some writing done 🙂
My WIP is my Urban Fantasy manuscript. My protagonist is an Earth-mover trying to escape her past. Lots of love interests going on, fighting, killing, and mystery. And some cute and cuddly animals!
Let’s get this started! I will check-in again in 2 hours. Have fun writing, everyone!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Hey-Ho, Anna! Glad you’re feeling good today and have put that Wed health bummer behind you. Your WIP sounds fascinating and plenty to sink your teeth into. Have fun (how can you not, with that story?) and we’ll see you at your next check-in. 🙂
~ Milli
Roughly two hours, about 1500 words. I’m picking up a lot of loose threads from where I left off and trying to steer things in a slightly new direction. I think that’s the hardest part of getting back into a neglected project. So far, so good! And now it’s time for lunch.
Good luck, everyone, and happy writing!
Twitter: fearofwriting
I agree, Mary, that can be the hardest part. And then eventually you hit a point where you’re so into it, you can’t imagine why you neglected it for so long. Ain’t that just what we writers do? 😉
Enjoy your lunch. ~ Milli
Time for lunch. Have gotten stuck in the scene I’m working on, so lunch will give me a chance to work out the kinks. Plus my energy is starting to lag, so some fuel food is in order.
Check-in #3: My husband and I changed venues and went out to Panera Bread Co for another snack/meal and some work (he’s writing a paper to submit to a conference).
I’m at 6,250 words. I’ve never before written so much in one day that wasn’t for an academic paper.
Just finished up my third session of the day: a bit over 2500 words again this time, and another chapter finished. I also wrote some notes to get me started on the next chapter. My total for the day is about 6600 words. This was such a great experience! Thanks to everyone who posted about how their days were going, and thanks, Milli, for the encouragement and for organizing these 10K days. I’m one happy first-timer.
Had to take another break to ice my very unhappy arm. Starting third writing session in my wrist brace and listening to Sarah McLachlan. Figured out where I went wrong in the scene. Let’s see what kind of trouble I can get my characters into now.
My arm is demanding that I call it quits for today! Got another 2000 words done, so all in all, was a productive day. Now going to ice the arm some more and get some planning done for the next couple chapters.
Thanks for making my first 10K day such a great one 🙂
Happy writing to all!
Finally – 10,014 words. I’m going to go collapse now.
