Next step is to prepare yourself ahead of time so you’ll have the best experience possible. Click on 10K DAYS in the menu above and you’ll find more info.
WHERE TO GO TO PARTICIPATE
ON SEPTEMBER 21 OR 24
To participate, return to the HOME PAGE of this blog on the morning of your chosen 10K Day. (Each writer determines his/her own start time.) You’ll find a special post called 10K Day: Live While It’s Happening! and that’s where you’ll be posting your check-ins.
The Live, While It’s Happening! post will give you pointers on what to post for your check-ins.
Please leave your RSVP/comments below.
See you at the 10K! ~ Milli
P.S. For writers who are participating from overseas and who are ahead of the U.S. in their time zone: I always post the check-in page on the evening of the day before the scheduled date. So feel free to write within your own time zone and to come post your check-ins! We’ll be glad to have you warm up the page for the rest of us. π
I’ll be here on the 21st. I can’t wait! π

Hi Lois!
I’m not surprised you got here first. π C U on the 21st.
~ Milli
Hi Milli!
Yes, you will! π
And I plan to bring Lucky Raven along with me. π
And maybe I’ll finally get to that article, too. π

You know, I was just reminding myself today to write and ask how that’s going. Also, did you ever find the rewriting notes I made for you for the story about the boy?
I haven’t started the article yet. I’ll write it during 10K Day…at least the rough draft. π
I did! I meant to tell you, and forgot. LOL I’ll be using them to help with my other stories, too. π
Twitter: fearofwriting
Terrific! So glad you found that. I hope it helps. π
Thanks! π
Oh! I picked up Syd Field’s The Screenwriter’s Problem Solver last week. I can’t wait to start using it! π
Twitter: fearofwriting
I haven’t read that. Let me know how you like it.
I will! I also have his books, Screenplay: The Foundations of Screenwriting and The Screenwriter’s Workbook on my Kindle. He’s supposed to be the authority on screenwriting. So far, I love his books. π

I’ll be here the 21st, but we plan to attend a Beer Fest on the 24th in Neosho.
Will announce on my blog during Sprints this week, and will move my Sprint day to here on the 21st. π
Happy Writing!
Hey, Pattikins,
So glad you can join us on the 21st. π
Incidentally, you can’t tell me about attending a beer fest without me saying, “I need that story for Milliver’s Travels!” I only have one beer story, which creates a lonely gap in my material. Plus, I know you have an expert on tap who can give you the finer details for your story. Take lots of pix!

I’m such a dork, I didn’t even think about that. LOL. It’s the first one in that area too. Kevin has been in contact with the people presenting it. I will ask him to get more information and let them know we’ll be writing a “feature” article on it.
I’m sure it will be mostly craft beer, but he’s actually starting to find some he likes.
**Must write self note to let Kevin know.
Twitter: fearofwriting
LOL! I could just *tell* you hadn’t thought of it. (I’m used to writers who think their local stuff won’t be of interest.) Plus, beer is Kevin’s thing. But, you’ll be the perfect team! The writer and the interviewed expert. π
P.S. When I answered your email yesterday about the travel blog you referred to MT, I had actually typed, “So, when are YOU planning to write for Milliver’s?” But I wasn’t sure if the timing was right so I deleted that bit. But now you’ve walked right into the spider’s den by your own admission (hehehe, I love when that happens).
Twitter: pattistafford
HeeHee! No, this is a perfect local event. It’s a two hour drive, but that IS local. LOL. I just hadn’t thought about writing about it—brain is a bit slow in the mornings. π
We went to Eureka Springs a few weeks ago, but it was so hot and miserable and I am SOOOO out of shape, that we didn’t really enjoy it, or take pics. But, I am getting in shape and want to go back when it cold and get pics to write a piece or two on.
Although it was miserable, and Kevin thought I should have purchased a tea set with the money, I learned a valuable lesson. My tea set can wait, the lesson didn’t need to wait.
And, I’m going to rattle in your comments section, but hopefully in March or April (for our birthdays–before it gets hot again) I want to take a “beer” excursion to St. Louis. So, maybe have another beer article for you then. π
Twitter: fearofwriting
A story about a beer excursion to St. Louis?! I’m in seventh heaven π
I also hope you’ll give me at least one of those Eureka Springs pieces. Once you have one story published on Milliver’s Travels, you’ll find out why the writers who’ve joined the staff find it addictive. Regular blogging just doesn’t give the same thrill that travel blogging does.
Twitter: pattistafford
Of course they would go on MT. π
I have a few other ideas rattling around in my head too, but I definitely plan to do those three.
Twitter: fearofwriting
OK, this is great, Pattikins. You sound like a veritable fountain of travel stories! π Gimme, gimme, gimme π
Unfortunately my schedule doesn’t seem too bright next week, but I’ll aim for both Wednesday and Saturday and hope to make it both days π
Twitter: fearofwriting
Estrella, even if you can only join us for short spans of time, it will still be worthwhile to have some writing time in the middle of a busy week.
Glad you want to be there both days!
xo
Twitter: pattistafford
Estrella, it’s also a wonderful thing if all you can do is pop in and play cheerleader. π
Twitter: jmmerchant86
Work allowing, I should be able to do both days π
It’s perfect timing really, my goal is to have the outline of my novel finished by the end of the month and all I’ve got is a few notes in my notebook and a lot of it stuck in my head, so might actually get some work done on it if I force myself.
Jo x
Twitter: fearofwriting
And we are here to force you!
(Oh, sorry, my Jekyll & Hyde complex just slipped.)
Just kidding. π Jo, that sounds like a great plan and it will be so fun to have you with us this month. I hope your work will allow for both days.
~ Milli
I think I can block off the 24th. Looking forward to it!
Sue

Great, Sue! C U on the 24th.

In for the 24th!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Yay!! I was hoping you’d be here again this month. π
Twitter: tarynblake71
With my writing costume on! (You can see it here, btw –> http://takingbacktaryn.com/2011/09/05/lets-talk-costumes-ill-start/ )
Twitter: fearofwriting
LOVE IT!!
You’ve got me thinking . . . I wonder what kinda stuff I’d write if I wore one of my belly dance outfits? π
Twitter: tarynblake71
You should try it and see!
Twitter: christybower
Count me in for the 24th. I have some short stories to write this time.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Hi Christy!
We’ll be happy to have a story-writin’ cowgirl among us on the 24th. π
~ Milli
Oh my gosh – both days are free. Eeek. This would be my first 10k challenge.
I’m going to go for it – sign me up for the 21st!! Thank you so much for tweeting and reminding me of this group. π
Oh and please tell my shih tzu not to be mad at me for ignoring him all day. I may need a plan for him… thinking…
~ Jenna
Twitter: fearofwriting
Jenna!!
So glad you can join us this time and I’m glad the reminder helped.
I would tell you to let your shih tzu out in the yard to play while you write . . . but I’ve already seen a pic of what happens outdoors. π
See you on the 21st!
~ Milli
Yes – he is a monster. I’m seriously considering sending him on an extended grooming appt. My gal is great and may keep him for a few extra hours.
Now I just need to decide which story to work on. My current WIP or a Shiny New story. Hmm. I’m about 60% done with the first draft of my current WIP. I’ll hope to write everyday up until the 21st and may be about 90% done by then – it’s a novella. I could pound out more words with one of my Shiny New stories.
π
~ Jenna
Twitter: fearofwriting
Jenna – Here’s what I’d suggest. Work on your WIP. Go in favor of some/any progress on your main big project rather than the glittering prize of bigger word count. I believe the satisfaction you’ll derive from working on your WIP will be more fulfilling for you in the long run.
~ Milli
Twitter: fearofwriting
Plus, with a big project like a novel or a novella, focus can be the key to success. If you start a new story you’ll be splitting your energy.
The glittering ones are hard to resist, but I see your point. If I pound away on the current WIP I’ll be able to send it off to beta readers sooner! That’s a perk. π
Jenna

And there’s an added bonus. Because every time you successfully complete some important writing that you set out to do, you defeat that fear of writing beastie another a few degrees. He’s the one who tries to lure you to the glittering mirages.
I am going to try for both. Best bet for actually getting a lot of writing done is the 21st. But we shall see.
Kate

Hi Kate!
Wonderful to see you and I’m thrilled you can join us. We’ll see you on the 21st – and hopefully for a while on the 24th too.
~ Milli
Twitter: helenaritchie
I’ll be here both days, although I’m not sure how much on Saturday. I had so much fun and got so much done last month, I can’t wait to do it all again. π
Twitter: fearofwriting
Helena,
Thrilled to hear you had so much fun and got so much done last month and can’t wait to do it again! We’ll see you on the 21st, plus whatever time you can give it on the Saturday.
~ Milli
That darn iguana keeps watching me! π
I’m in for baby’s nap times on the 24th! π
xo
Twitter: fearofwriting
Good for you, Jenn!!
For such a relaxed guy, that iguana sure can stare you down. π
No kidding!
I have an idea of what I’ll write. It’s not the wedding piece…although I will try to work on that as well. But I think I’ll write a letter to a good friend–one that has been a long-time coming–and something she really needs to know. π
Last month I was busy both days, so on Sunday I made 10k day for myself – just to see how it feels. I did enjoy it, so this month I’m definitely signing up for it! I will be here on 24th (or even before because of the time difference π ), it’s going to be chapter 5 of my novel (and hopefully 6 as well).
See you on Saturday!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Hi Melfka!
I’m thrilled to hear you made your own 10K Day – and enjoyed it. Chapter 5 (and hopefully 6) of your novel this Saturday sounds exciting too. We’ll be glad to have you joining us then. (You can help warm up the check-in page for us, since it sounds like you’re in an earlier time zone π
~ Milli
I’m in for the 24th – couldn’t make it last month because of a surprise visit from a relative all day long. But unless the house burns down NOTHING will keep me from joining this Saturday! π
Twitter: fearofwriting
Goodonya, Lisa! I like the passion in that declaration.
We’ll see you at Saturday’s 10K Day then. π
~ Milli
Twitter: danapittman
I am trying for Saturday, 24th. Can’t wait.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Hey, Dana, would be thrilled to see you join us on Saturday!! I had a wonderful 10K Day yesterday: 6,722 words of writing fun and fulfillment. I still feel the happiness vibe this morning from having such a great writing day.
