Good Morning, It is now 1:40 in the morning hours. Been up since one, and figured that I might as well get start. I currently have zero words, but will be starting soon with a single word. I am planning on working on an outline first. My story line will be about an imaginary ride across country. I have thought about taking a real cross country motorcycle ride, from border to border and coast to coast. I am not sure how far I I will be riding in this story. I plan on having a friend joining me on the ride, it makes for a better story than just talking to myself. Best of luck to all.

John, Thanks for kicking us off so early. It must be a trip in itself to get up in the middle of the night and write.
Good morning, it has been an hour now, and my word count has reached 1,014. I going to get myself a slim-fast creamy milk chocolate drink. Then I will continue on at the computer. Just wanted to check to see if anyone was else was working on their story.
Hello there!
Cheering on Brenda and John!
It’s 11:31am over at this end, and I just sat down to write. Since I have work a bit later, so not enough time on my hands for today, I don’t have too many expectations from today’s writing session.
However, I think that in the long run, this fact also helps with feeling like I didn’t get anything done 😉
Good Morning, Estrella and Brenda. Estrella, sorry about your time limitations, but glad to see you here. Best of luck to both of you.
Thanks, John.
It’s going alright so far, though of course, not as I expected. Not much “real” writing going on, but I did finish a blog post, comment, work on my news columns and am now writing e-mails.
Guess Wednesdays are good for this part of my writing and Saturdays I’ll keep for the actual poem/flash/article writing 🙂
Twitter: fearofwriting
Estrella, glad to have you here. Sounds like a good way to manage your Wed/Saturday schedules. Keep on truckin’. 🙂
~ Milli
Had it in mind to get some more writing done after I get home from work. Waiting for the bus and freezing wasn’t taken into account. That means after a warm shower I crashed into bed and didn’t even read my e-mails…
I’ll be here on Saturday though and I have proper writing plans for it! 🙂
Hope your Wednesday 10k Day was great!
Checking in, I have now been at the computer for two hours and my word count is 2,286. I will be checking back in about after another hour or so. Then it will be time for a cup of coffee.
Twitter: fearofwriting
2,286 already. Great balls of fire!
My dog, Princess just reminded me that it was time to let her outside, and that she was ready for breakfast. My word count is at 4,099. The time that Milli spent preparing me for this 10K seems to be paying off. I am just starting to wonder if Milli is going to be sleep in all day. (LOL)
Twitter: fearofwriting
Compared to you getting up at 1:30, John, I have most certainly slept the day away! Ah, well. I’m usually the last one left standing at the other end of the day. We non-morning people have our tricks. 😀
While writing my story I was enjoying the sound of my imaginary motorcycle’s engine exhaust sound. I was riding the bike with wind and sunshine in my face and breathing the fresh air of spring. This gave me the feeling that I was as free as a flying bird. My wings were extended with the sense of natures presence being almost overwhelming. Then calls and songs from my birds reminded me that it was time to feed and change their water. I will be taking a break, but I will be returning shortly. I am at 4,810, however, it is still early here.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Those birds do have a way of calling attention to themselves. Hehe.
Twitter: fearofwriting
John: 4,810 words so far. Splendid work! 🙂
Good morning!
As I said over on Patti’s Wednesday Writing Sprints entry:
Just checking in. I have a few things I need to do before I get started, which includes taking a shower. LOL
My plan for today is to do some brainstorming as well as actual writing. I don’t have a set word count/page count. I just want to get some work done on four different stories/story lines…and take some breaks for physical activity every hour.
Good luck everyone! See you again soon…
~L
Hope everyone’s having a great day of writing, so far! 😀
Twitter: fearofwriting
Wow, Lois, you’re working on four different stories? Sounds like a creative day ahead. Have fun!
~ MIlli
Sort of–? LOL Two of the stories I’m still at the brainstorming stage. One of the stories is just for myself. The other story is a story that accompanies the roleplay I’m doing with a friend. I’m thinking I should take a look at my Will Scarlet story, too–and my screenplay. Looks like I’ll start working about an hour earlier than I thought, too (9:30, as opposed to 10:30)! 😀
Twitter: fearofwriting
It all sounds juicy and fun, Lois. I can see your big grin from here. 😀
LOL It will be! 😉 Right now, I’m about to take a shower and fix myself a decaf cappuccino, then get to work! 😀
Twitter: fearofwriting
Good Morning, everyone. I’m going to grind some coffee beans and make a cappuccino. I plan to get started by 9 a.m.
~ Milli
Twitter: fearofwriting
Righteo, then. I’ve got my cappuccino in hand, my favorite jammies on, a bit of sunshine out the window (always a bonus for Ohio in the winter) and I’m ready to dig in. Today I want to write Sections 7, 8 and 9 of my online course for screenwriters. Then Saturday I’ll be writing the workbook to go with it.
Twitter: helenaritchie
Good Morning! I’m off to a slow start this morning, but that’s the story of my life lately. Got a surprise invite for lunch today, so looking forward to getting a big chunk of work done before I go.
Have an awesome day!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Good Morning, Helena. 🙂
Glad to see you. Sounds fun to have a lunch date to motivate you to get down to it this morning. Best of luck with that “big chunk o’ work.”
~ Milli
Twitter: fearofwriting
I’ve got 1,268 words and one sub-section of Section 7 of my course for screenwriters in the bag. Not bad for being half-awake. 🙂
I’m starving. Time for eggs on toast.
Twitter: jterryprice
Checking in! Just finished breakfast and ready to write fast and write hard. Still working on first draft of novel so I can write with abandon. Will check in during breaks! Cheers! Terry
Twitter: fearofwriting
Terry ~ Fabulous to see you here. I can *feel* the energy that you’ve landed on the keyboard with. Looking forward to your updates.
~ Milli
I just got finished stretching my legs from a short motorcycle ride. I found myself in Bardstown, Kentucky, where we enjoyed an Old Kentucky two and a half hour train diner ride. The stop did add another 1K to my story. However, now I will have to go there in the real world. I am happy to see everyone here, being productive and enjoying the 10K.
Twitter: fearofwriting
John, I loved this update. Your journey stop in KY reminds me of a town we stopped in when we were moving to Ohio from Mississippi. It was after dark and the downtown area was quiet. But we did manage to find a great place to eat. Afterwards, we walked along the tracks that run right through Main Street, and watched a long train going by. I’ll have to ask Brian what the name of that town was.
I agree you’ll need to go Bardstown in the real world. Brian and I also have some plans for you to bring Karen kicking and screaming on the back of the bike to join us for some adventures over this way. 😀
Your word count’s lookin’ good!
Twitter: cjtreggett
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to climb on the comment train here for a moment and wish you all a successful 10k day. I would have loved to participate this week, but I’m up to my earlobes with client work (and meetings – even two today lol).
This is such a great regular event and I just wanted to cheer you all on – you are all so talented and amazing 🙂
Hopefully I’ll be able to join in the fun next month.
Cheers. Happy writing!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Carole! Lovely to hear from you. I’m touched that you stopped in to cheer us on. (I will tuck those good wishes into my imaginary pocket and use it to spur me on to 10,000 words.) And, yep, we’ve got a great team assembled once again, plus one new participant (Terry) who’s already in the swing of it. I love these guys.
Best of luck with your meetings and client work. I’d be over the moon to see you join us next month.
~ Milli
I’m here! I just dropped toddler off, grabbed a bagel on my way home (a treat for myself that I never get) and am ignoring the toddler mess in my house. This is my first 10K day so I will spend some time just free writing. I started a bit yesterday so I’m starting today with 146 words. It’s 11:30 Minneapolis time and so I have a good 5 hours of interrupted writing time (with breaks, of course). It’s going to be hard not doing those things that need to get done when I am child-less, but I’m going to give it a try. Wish me luck!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Manisha!!
I’m so excited you made it. Your plan sounds PERFECT in every way. Ignore the toddler mess and just write. Do some free-writing first. Take your breaks, even though your time is limited to five hours. I think you’re going to do GREAT!
Looking forward to your next check-in. Happy writing!
~ Milli
I’m at 2338 words and am in need of a serious break! What a great time with this brain-dump. I’m surprised that chapters and new ideas are forming as I go along. This book idea has been simmering for awhile now which is what is going to lead to productive 10K days. I feel like I’ve already accomplished a lot so the rest of the afternoon will be at a much slower pace. I am having some dissertation writing flashbacks, but this is a much more fun writing project!
Thanks for this great day, Milli!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Manisha, what a thrilling update! SO pleased for you!!
Had to chuckle about the dissertation-writing flashbacks. I’m incredibly relieved to hear that you’re finding the 10K Day (and your writing project) to be more fun than that. 😀
Wonderful also to hear that you’ve got chapters and new ideas forming as you go. Yippee!!
C U at the next update. Enjoy your break.
Twitter: fearofwriting
I’ve reached 3,347 words and have finished Section 6 of my online course for screenwriters. Hooray!
Contrary to my foggy-brained initial update this morning, I still have three more sections to finish today. I’ve been keeping track of my average word count per hour and I should be able to do that much in one day, while also breaking 10,000 words.
I’m going to take a breather, make some more coffee and then browse through a glossy catalogue of cheap trinkety stuff, none of which I intend to buy. A fun, meaningless diversion to clear my brain. 😀
~ Milli
I’m currently at 1,743 words (not really doing word counts, but I’m always curious to see how much I’ve written) on my notes doc for my fan fiction mashup story. Roughly four pages of fun! 😀
And now I’m off to do some work on the next project…
Already ate and had a decaf cappuccino, so I’m just downing the water for now. 🙂
Hope it’s still going great for everyone!
~L
Twitter: fearofwriting
Sounds like fun, Lois! Always love to see you smiling while you write. 😀
~ Milli
LOL I smile a LOT while I write. I think it’s because I love torturing my heroes. *snicker*
Whew!! I was typing away, and all of a sudden, my computer screen went dead, and then my word document disappeared. I return to my recent documents and could find only a previous version of my story going back to when I was under 5K. I quickly thought of a few words that I could add to my story. I was panicking while I was frantically searching my computer, whew!! again, after several minutes I was able to go to a recovery program and retrieve my lastest document it contained all that I had written today. There was my document which contained the 7,925 profound words, or at least they would have been profound words if I had not found the lost document. I could see me attempting to give Milli the excuse that the dog, or in my case the bird ate my homework. I will save that excuse for a later date and time. I have now made a couple backup copies of what I have written today. I think I could use a 15 minute break, right now.
Twitter: fearofwriting
EGAD!! I was on the edge of my chair reading this update, until you got to the part about the recovery program for lost 10K Day documents. Yikes. That was nearly tragic. Sounds like we need a new 19K Day tips article on remembering to take measures to prevent this kind of blood-chilling computer adventure.
My heart is still racing. So glad you were able to find all of your 7,925 profound words. Yes, you deserve that break!
Kudos on the word count, by the way. Fantastico!
Enjoy your break, and we’ll see you with thumb drive in hand when you return. (Or whatever you use for backups.)
🙂
Twitter: fearofwriting
LOL! Meant to type “10K Day tips article” not 19K. Right now a 19K Day sounds like cruelty to writers. 😀
Twitter: jterryprice
Quick break to have lunch with dad. 2,200 words so far and now I’m heading back in. Don’t know that I’ll make 10k but I’m 2,200 words better off than I was yesterday! Cheers all!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Good-o, Terry. 2,200 words is very decent progress. And now after a great lunch you can do that many more before the next break. 🙂 Have fun.
~ Milli
John: I’m really glad you found all those words you temporarily lost! I lost more than half a novel by stupidly overwriting a completed novel with a partial once. That’s something I pray I never do again! 😛
As for my own writing, I just added another 1,582 words to another story summary (read: brainstorm) document for my Immortal Watchdogs characters, the brothers Damian and Casandro Stephanakis. Some of those were recycled, and I have a timeline, and I had to add elements from that into the summary, but I added a lot of new, fun stuff! 😀
So far today:
D&D (R/H FF) Notes: 1,743
D&C (IW) Notes: 1,582
Total: 3,325
I’m off to take a break for a few minutes, then I hope to write for about half an hour more. I may write some more tonight, too, but will do that from Little Blue. Right now, I’m using my new desktop, Damian (why yes, I did name him after my character! Why do you ask? *g*).
Keep cranking out the words, everyone. You’re doing great! 😀
~L
Twitter: fearofwriting
Lois, I love the names of your computers. Especially Little Blue. (Sorry, but Damien makes me think of Omen II. LOL!)
Your word count sounds just spiffing, and so does all the fun stuff you’re adding.
LOL My friend, K, thinks of Omen, too, but I never saw it. 😉
I’ve given two Immortal Watchdogs character names to two of my computers. I call the big desktop computer Damian because my IW character, Damian Stephanakis, is about to come into some incredible power at some point (haven’t quite worked it out yet, but I will), and my desktop is by far the most powerful computer I’ve got!
My bigger laptop is Casandro because he has problems that come with age, so he’s a bit temperamental, just like the rebel, Casandro Stephanakis.
And Little Blue is a bottom of the line mini computer. I love her, but she’s soooo slooooow! 😛

I’m on 4,838 and I just wrote the most critical lesson in my online course for screenwriters. It’s the core secret to my method so there was a lot of thinking through about how to express it. And now my brain hurts.:D I’m going to take another break. I feel the need for a shower to refresh myself properly, and I need to eat a late lunch. Back later –
I just topped 3K and I think I’m done. I had forgotten how tiring this can be. I feel good for what I have done and for what I have begun!
I’m writing about a school I attended in the Himalaya Mountains and after my break, I made the mistake of looking it up on the Internet (Woodstock School). I got a bit overwhelmed by the lovely photos and enormity of what I want to do. But it’s a very good start and now, there’s no going back. Only space for movement forward.
I looking forward to being more focused next month!
Thanks again!
Manisha
Twitter: fearofwriting
Manisha,
3K rocks! What a great way to use your time while your little girl is with her grandparents for the afternoon.
Your story sounds fascinating. I would love to read about you attending school in the Himalayas. And would love to see those photos too.
Looking forward to having you join us again next month! Thanks for writing with us today. 🙂 🙂

Twitter: fearofwriting
Bah. I took a longer break last time, to eat some dinner and take a shower. And then our landlord came over for a repair so that was time lost to unplanned chit-chat. I’m only on 5,529, which was not where I planned to be by now.
Looks like I’ll be writing till midnight to make my goals. I’m very much wanting to break 10K today because that will get two more sections of my course done. Then on Saturday I’ll only have the workbook to write.
Onwards and upwards. . . .
Hey, Hey, Hey, it took some tooth pulling, but I am now at 10,758. Mind you that I didn’t include any of the rhetoric, that I thought about when my story disappeared from the computer screen. I apologize for not interacting much with the 10K group today, I had to stay focus on reaching this goal for the first time. This was my third attempt. It was fun. Milli thank you for your support and the confidence you showed in me throughout this process. Lois, I feel bad that you were not able to recover your novel, I am looking forward to reading your novel, one day soon. Estrella, best of luck to you on Saturday, when writing your poem/flash/article. I have enjoyed your blog postings. I think it is now “Miller Time”.
Twitter: fearofwriting
WHOO HOO!!
Congrats on the 10,758 words. You’ve certainly earned your Miller Time, not just for busting 10K but also for surviving the gut-lurching disappearance of your story until you found it in the recovery room of your computer.
(Any writer should be allowed a little rhetoric when that kind of thing happens. :D)
I’m thrilled to hear you say you had fun today! I never get tired of hearing that.
Bravo, John. Well done and boogey woogey!
~ Milli
John: I doubt you’ll be reading that novel anytime soon, but I’m working on some other stuff, too, so you never know what may end up on the bookshelves. 😉
Congrats on the awesome word count! 😀
Twitter: fearofwriting
I’m on 7,309 and I need another break. The writing is going really well, just having some brain-drain issues so I’m needing more frequent breaks.
My last update, via Patti’s Wednesday Writing Sprints page:
Quick update, because it’s bedtime:
D&D Notes – 1,743
D-C (IW): 1,582
L&D (Raven AU): 1,140
Total: 4,465
Hope you all had a great day! I know I did. 🙂

Awesome results, Lois! Glad you had a great day. Sleep well. 🙂
Thanks, Milli. And thanks for hosting these. They’re so much fun! 😀
Nighty night. 🙂

Yay, I made it. 10,252.
I finished all the sections of the screenwriting course that I planned to work on today. That means my plan for Saturday—to finish the course by writing the companion workbook—is feasible.
What a relief. This been a lengthy course to write. I hope some aspiring screenwriters will enroll after I launch it. I want to see it in action. I already know my method works, but I’m eager to see others using it.
G’night all.

Holy Dinger! Congratulations!

Good morning, everyone.
I’m awake and showered. Still need shiva nata, meditation, and breakfast before I’m ready to write.
Looking forward to it!

Good Morning, Taryn,
So lovely to have you here. 🙂
Looking forward to your updates as we write like happy squirrels on our 10K Day.

Prediction accurate *sneeze* I have a cold… *blows nose*
I’ll try and write two blog posts, major downsizing since my last writing goals for the day, but am not getting my hopes up.
Cheering on everyone else though! xoxo

Estrella,
Sorry about your cold. 🙁
Thanks for attending anyway, despite that. I’m very pleased to have you here. 🙂

*passes virtual chicken soup*
Thank you guys, you’re so sweet!
I’m actually giving up on writing right now.
My eyes barely want to stay open, I need to get to the Chef’s while I still have the motivation to get myself out the door (and the blog posts went something like: thinking of titles for ten minutes, then writing the first sentences for twenty, then staring at the screen until I lost all patience for it).
Hope you all have an amazing and productive 10k Day!
*hugs*
Twitter: fearofwriting
Estrella, thanks for trying to do the 10K Day like you had planned to. Sorry it didn’t work out. However, taking time now to get over your cold sooner will help with your writing productivity in the long run. So I think you made the best choice.
Say Hi to The Chef for me. Some day I hope to meet him and eat some of his Chef Delights (as well as yours :)).
xoxo

Stayed up late last night working on a new website (for which I’ll be writing some content today, as well as writing the workbook to go with my new online course for screenwriters).
Still trying to come to life. Need to take a shower and make cappuccino first.
~ Milli
Twitter: tarynblake71
All set to get writing now 🙂
This morning’s soundtrack — Ceremonials by Florence + the Machine. Beverage — Fruit Punch flavor Gatorade (but I had one of those cute teeny cans of Dr. Pepper to wake up).
Project of the Day — Massive brain dump/brainstorming session.
Break strategy — Do the laundry! I’ll have to get up regularly to switch out the loads. Another round of shiva nata whenever I’m feeling stuck. Probable longer break sometime in the early afternoon for a Target/Petsmart run.
Aaaaand go!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Taryn,
Loved hearing your plans and strategies. Sounds like it should be a super-dooper brain dump day for you!
Well, it looks like it’s only you and me now. I had expected a few others from the RSVPs, but oh well. I’m totally here for my own reasons, and I would go on alone if need be. But I’m glad I’ve got you as my Saturday 10K companion. We (will) ROCK!
My update: Had a hot shower and drank some coffee while doing my planning. I’ll be ready to get started in about 10 minutes. Ready, set. . . .
Twitter: tarynblake71
Milli,
I’m amazed that you have any words left in you after your ah-maze-ing count on Wednesday. Go you!
I’ve flipped the laundry and switched my music to Deva Premal sings the Moola Mantra. Just under 700 words so far, including a list of lists I need to make (LOL) and the beginnings of a fuller description of my target readers than I’ve had before.
My body wants a few stretches now, but then I’ll be back at it.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Taryn,
Cool update and congrats on the 700 words so far.
I’ve probably written about that much, too, for a collab I’m doing with another writer. But it was just email communication, so I won’t count that.
My stomach decided to get hungry just as I was ready to start, so that slowed me down. But now I’ve had a great protein breakfast. And I’m start5ing . . . NOW.
🙂

Checking in a couple hours late, but am rolling along with about 1500 total words so far. Completed a draft for my ethics class and now working on accounting project paper. Struggling to find good words for something so technical as accounting. Not my forte at all! Can’t wait to get to IT strategy paper since it is more subjective. Then, need to write paper for entrepreneurship class.
Truckin’ along!
Twitter: fearofwriting
Welcome, Helene. So great to have you back with us!
Had to laugh when you said “Can’t wait to get to IT strategy paper since it is more subjective.” I’m not sure I can see that! But accounting does sound hard to make interesting.
Congrats on the 1500 words so far. You’re off to a tremendously good start!
~ Milli
Twitter: hkwong
LOL the IT strategy paper is about my thoughts on the class…more like a reflection paper and not so much research. 😛 That’s how it’ll be subjective!
This accounting paper is making me lose focus. -_- Don’t like it!
Twitter: hkwong
YARGH. This accounting paper has to be 14-15 pages including exhibits. I’m only up to 3 pages now plus one table. I’ve been toiling with this for the past 1.5 hours and want to switch gears. Onto IT Strategy!
Twitter: tarynblake71
Laundry is flipped for the second time, and my word count is 1250ish. Time for lunch soon. My sweet husband always texts me from work at the beginning of his lunch break to remind me that it’s time to eat.
Twitter: fearofwriting
1,399 words
It’s been fun so far but I’m already fading badly. It’s actually not because of doing 10,252 words on Wednesday. I’m very passionate about my list of writing goals for today and I’ve still got plenty to say. It’s because I spent the two days in between the Wed and Sat 10K Days being a total workaholic on writing-related projects (helping my writing students, building a new site for my online courses, etc.)
Add to that, I didn’t get enough sleep last night because I stayed up too late working. So I’ve goofed on my own 10K Day. But I’m going to take a longer break and see if I can revive enough to keep going on some of the funnest items from my list.
🙁 🙂
(I need both theatrical masks right now – the ones showing the smiling and frowning stage players.)
Twitter: tarynblake71
I’m at 1594 and also fading fast. My body just isn’t cool with sitting today. Plus I’m trying to brainstorm my way out of some stuck spots, which is always hard.
My writing days are more successful when I come in with a list of posts to write and some rough work already done toward them.
I’m going to get my errands done and see if the movement will make my shoulders happier.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Took a long break, ate a protein lunch and did some reading. I feel better. Not like I’ve had a good night’s sleep, but better enough to keep trying.
I’ll start with something really easy and short.
Twitter: tarynblake71
Errands took way longer than expected. It seemed like everyone in town was at the strip mall.
I have about half an hour left before my husband gets home from work. He’s decided to take me out for dinner. Brownie points for the husband!
Twitter: tarynblake71
Got to 1992.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Taryn, congrats on the 1,992 words.
Enjoy that restaurant dinner. Sure sounds better than the quickie 10K Day dinner I’ll be having. 😉

2,532.
I still feel pretty good after rejuvenating on my long break. Plus it’s motivating to know that I’ve managed to do 1/4 of a 10K Day even with a burned-out brain. So I’m going to make a cup of tea and keep going.
Twitter: hkwong
I believe I am at about 3000 words. Still adding more to my entrepreneurship paper. Hoping to get a lot written out in the next few hours (hope hope hope)
Twitter: fearofwriting
Glad to know you’re still there! I’m still here too. We’re the only ones left. 🙂
I’m on 3,154 so we’re neck and neck. Good luck with the next few hours. C U at the next check-in.

Have gotten quite a bit of work done, just not with a very high word count. (I’m working a new website, so it’s not all just pure writing.) I’m up to 3,666 words.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Today’s total 4,346 + Wed’s total 10,252 = 14,598
I’m bushed.
C U all at the March 10K Days. 🙂

I actually logged on Saturday and no one was here. I should have left a comment. But I was so sick on Wednesday and Saturday, I just got distracted. Next month, I’m planning on working on Mikey Dog book.
Looks like you had some very prolific plucky writers.

Hi Marilyn,
Sorry we missed you. Most of us got a late start on Saturday. I hope you’re feeling better today. Will look forward to having you and Mikey dog with us in March. 🙂

10K Day was great! Live, live, live!
