Good thing I wrote 9490 on Wed. This is my slowest day in a long time: only 3020 so far. But it’s taking a lot of creative energy and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
Taking a late lunch break. Leftover spaghetti bolognese.

I’m up to 4K. Not an impressive number this late in the afternoon but I’m having a blast. Still all handwritten. 🙂

Checking in! As usual, I’m a late starter, but if I have to go past midnight, I will. Glad Jenn could join us, too! She’s a good egg. 😉

Hi Bev!
So very pleased to have you here. I usually write till quite late, so you should have at least one companion for the late shift. 🙂
xo

Thanks, Milli! Yep, I’m a night writer, as you know. I’ll likely be up till about four a.m. before I hit the bed! 😉

Bev, you never came back to make any updates on the blog. How did your 10K Day turn out?
Also never heard from Jenn as far as updates. I wonder how she liked it.
:~)

Hey Milli! I didn’t do as well as I wanted — only 3k words — so I was a bit disappointed. Well, a LOT disappointed! But then I realized that 3k is better than none, after all. I can only go up from here, right? 🙂 Not sure how Jenn did, though.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Bev, bummer about you being disappointed with your results. Wish I could help. 🙂
Twitter: elementalmuse
No worries, Milli. I shan’t give up and I shall keep at it! 😉
10K Days for June will be Wed the 27th and Saturday the 30th. Hope to see you there!

Excellent! I hope to make it. 🙂
You guys will have to go to midnight by yourselves. I have a disappointing 7362. I honestly expected to be through by now. I did a lot of editing against the the rules I know but I couldn’t help myself.
I just got back from feeding the horses and not feeling particularly inspired but there are a few things swirling around in my head and I feel pretty good so I plan to finish here in the next couple hours. Sometimes when I feel this way I just start writing off the top of my head and things happen. Will check back later. Good luck you new comers.

Marilyn, sounds like you’ve had an awesomely productive day so far, despite your self-flagellation about editing. 😀
Hope you find your second wind. Maybe your brain just needs some protein.
Hi everyone.
Marylin 7362 is just amazing. I have been writing this book for the last four months, so I have been gradulay working up the daily count, but anything over 5k seems amazing to me!
It is just past midnight here, and after unraveling half of chapter 22 (my word count actualy fell by over 600) and then getting everything straight, I have realised that chapter 22 is not actualy chapter 22! it at least 22 and 23!
Anyhow, I am up to a very dispointing 4147 words. (Those 600 deleted words have hurt me here, but, they had to go!)
My wrist looks it has lost half of the sking, and the patch of paint word of the wrist wrest is now twice the size it was last week.
Still, even though I have failed to get to 5k before midnight I am going to ‘cheat’ a bit, and keep going for another hour or so. Will still post my final count.
But the sad realisation is that I had hoped to finish chapter 22 today, and then I would just have the last chapter for tomorrow. It looks like that is not going to happen, so the book will not be finished till next week. Damn!
Anyhow, for those still at it, best of luck.
And, thanks to everyone for their support.
Cheers

Irishman, awesome work. I am working from real life stuff and it’s all in my head and all I have to do it type really fast. You can do it I promise it’s not that hard.
I’m now at 8457. I have new Mikey dog spirit. And funny thing my niece just text me from her vacation at her grandparents house. They just found a dog. No collar and super sweet. She text me a pic. They went to all the neighbors and no one knows this dog. She wants to keep it but her dad isn’t going for it. It’s a Blue Healer and so I told her to name it Azure. That should seal the deal. So I’m counting my text. Hanging in and going to try to reach my 10K. I’ll be so upset if I don’t after my 10K course. Can I count these posts? I know Mill, just kidding.
OK guys, I have been non- stop writing. I must be full of Bull or something because I am just writing every thought that comes into my head. I am now at 9364. The dogs are bugging me to go out and so I will let them out. Fix me a little pasta and veggie din din and be back to finish! he he.
Hi everyone.
Thanks for the compliment. But my little word count is nothing compare to yours. 8457. Just,… wow!
Not to sure what a ‘Mikey dog spirit’ is, but I do know that one should never turn away a stray dog!
I still remember when I was about 8, and I was out with my mother on the promenade (I grew up in Bournemouth in the UK), and she pointed to a sign on a hotel that said: “No Blacks, No Irish, No Dogs”, and she asked me “So, are we one better than black people, or one worse than dogs?” I thought about it for a while and then replied, as only a child could, “I think they must dislike us more than dogs, because everyone knows the English love their dogs!”
I have no idea why that triggered that memory, but there it is.
Anyhow. I have persevered, and, even though it is now almost 2 in the morning, I managed it (better late than never, eh?).
My final word count is 5125.
Now, one day, I hope to be all growed up, and manage something really special, like Milli or Marilyn. But for now, I made my target, and so shall sleep happy in that knowledge.
Everyone, it has really been a blast! And more power to your elbow (or maybe in this case to the ‘moving finger [that] writes, and then moves on’)
Thanks again to you all for your kind words, and pleasant encouragements. I really do not think I could have done it without you.
Milli, if you want a really nice travel picture, then somewhere I think I still have this absolutely priceless photo of some road works here in Belgium. The main road is blocked, but those helpful ‘navies’ have put up some diversion signs. One Points to left, and says (in Dutch) ‘This way to the station’. The other points to the right, and also says, ‘This way to the station’. Just to add to the fun. The left one does not lead to the station, but the right one does go there, only it points to a one way street, going the wrong way!
It is not for nothing that Belgium is known as the home of the surrealist!

Liam,
Congrats on making your target! 5125 is awesome, especially since you’ve been writing thousands of words for your book every day for some period of time now. Attending both 10K Days this week was a feat as well.
Sounds like we won’t see you in June. But don’t forget about us! You’re one of the gang now. Maybe you could just stop in to say Hello next month, even if you won’t be writing with us.
Cheers ~ Milli
Hi Everyone.
Indeed, I will certainly drop in to offer what ever encouragement I can.
I just thought I would let you know the latest figures. Chapter 21 kind of blew up, and when complete had actually become three chapters.
Chapter 25 (penultimate one) is almost complete.
And that just leaves the final chapter.
Page counts (I use this more than WC for my own bookkeeping) since the first 10k day are looking much better:
23rd 23 pages
24th 14 pages
25th 15 pages
26th 21 pages
27th 15 pages
28th 14 pages
I usually try to not write on the weekend, as my open course are on those days, but as I committed to do the 26th, I thought I might as well do Sunday as well.
So 88 pages (25,565 words) in six days! I’m almost averaging 5k a day. Still far from 10k though ;-(
Anyhow, thanks to everyone for their support and encouragement.
I think that I have gained a lot from this.
Maybe on the next book I’ll be able to hit a 7 or 8k
Best Regards

I’m on 4630, moseying along in my journal, going deeper into the mysteries of the book I’m percolating.
Had tacos for dinner cooked by Chef Brian (aka Taco Slave) and a piece of dark chocolate studded with hazelnuts for dessert. Before dinner I went for a gorgeous bike ride in the park where I was practically the only person in there. The evening sunlight filtering down through the treetops was divine. Feeling very relaxed and ready for more meanderings with my pen.
A bike ride??!! Woman, get down to business. No time for all this frivolity. Baths and bike rides in the park and such, my goodness.
Me thinks she’s telling us to enjoy the ride and don’t get too serious. Which I totally tend to do. You say 10K and I say Hello. Hello, Hello. I don’t know how you say good bye I say Hello!
So was wondering if Brian was a clean up the dishes slave as well? You got a good one.
My Tazzi friends on the horse Forums are waking up and the buzz is on. So guess it’s not blogging but a lot of posts on yahoo groups. Four different groups to be exact. I sure hope that counts ‘cuz I been using them.
Chowing down on some quinoa pasta, broccoli, olive oil and parm cheese. Yummy. Just enough energy to finish the job.

I’m on 4910. Creeping along here – this is the most relaxed I’ve ever been on a 10K Day. I might melt into a puddle soon.
Liam & Peache – Enjoyed your comments. Will reply after I bump up the ol’ word count a bit more. If I go any slower I’ll regress and start getting younger instead of older. 😀

Ended up on 5750. I’m going to clean up the dishes and then get to bed. We’re probably going hiking tomorrow and I don’t want to be sleep deprived.
All in all, a deeply satisfying day of writing.
Bev – Hope you enjoy your 10K Night. 😀
I am posting this late because I had posted the night of the 26th but I guess I, in my state of tiredness, I forgot to hit the submit button.
I ended up with 10018. I really chained myself to my desk. I only took a few breaks as I am not a late night person.
I felt the need to hit 10K because this was my second attempt after my “Ace Your 10K Day” Course with Milli. So I was determined to make it happen.
I wasn’t as prepared as I thought I would be. I am finishing up my Mikey dog book and working on some stories for my ebook submissions and one last assignment from Milli’s course, also I have some Yahoo group Forum’s that are pretty active. So I thought this would be easy. I had planned to have 5000 words before my lunch time break. I did. So I felt very good about the afternoon and getting through by 5 or 6pm. When 5:00pm came I only had less than 7400. I really wasn’t that tired but I was running out of things to write. It came down to about 7:00 my time and I was at around 9400. I took a break and came back to a blank mind.
I just started writing, “Jack is a very good boy,” referenced from the movie “The Shining.” I wrote that a couple of times and suddenly I started writing about my life.
I wanted to write more deliberate this time, not just word count but I wanted to write from my heart and soul and I did. Words fell, well not on the paper, but into the computer. Still is amazing how that happens but I felt very at peace about it and good. I was tired but not exhausted. It was a good day and I accomplished what I wanted.
I put pressure on myself but not demanding, or commanding. I only wanted to meet this goal this day at this time. It happened and I thought I was prepared but I really wasn’t. But it happened because I redirected my thinking and it didn’t matter that I didn’t stick to one book or one subject. I kind of purged about my life and it felt creative.
Twitter: fearofwriting
Awesome comment, Marilyn! Thanks for coming back to share your process. It was cool the way you broke out of that blank mind state into writing about your life. I loved it when you said, “I kind of purged about my life and it felt creative.”
And congrats on your 10,018 words! Thanks for sticking to it beyond your normal time in honor of the Ace Your 10K Day! course. Much appreciated!
xoxo

ARGH! I can’t BELIEVE that I missed Saturday’s 10K Day! Life got in the way and I got pulled in other directions (unfortunately). Hope everyone had a great day filled with lots and lots of writing and creativity!
Huh. I missed it, too. But it was worth it. I got an awesome new pair of sneakers for my workouts and some new fish for the aquariums–oh, and I got to spend lots of time with the Hubbs! 😀
