    Hello, Everyone!

I will be in the middle of moving from Ohio to New Mexico during this month’s 10K Days. But I just wanted to stop in and say “Happy Writing!” I’ll be cheering for you from the moving van. 🙂

Team Kiwi is a go! So far there are three of us, but people will trickle in. Our expected people are:
Tracey, Catherine, Stephen, Melody, Erin and me! The big guns are joining us this time around, but they’ll kill me if I say things like “award winning” and “amazing” and “published” and “inspiring” so in the interest of hitting 10K, I’ll shut up. Yay 10K day!

Awesome update, Rachael. Sounds like an illustrious group! It’s always fun having the Kiwis here and thanks for kicking us off again this month. 🙂

I arrived home a couple of hours ago and am wishing you a safe trip, Milli.

Happy writing to anyone starting earlier than my time zone!

Very excited to be here tomorrow, it’s been way too long, and I’m seriously suffering when not writing. So 10K Day tomorrow: can not arrive soon enough! 😉

    Hi Everyone.
Erin, Catherine and I started on time. Erin has 2194, Catherine has 2541 and I have 3400. Melody and Stephen arrived late, Stephen (the bastard) has 3138 (some how) and Melody has 800.

Subjects- The last straw, Victorian Gothic, the origin story of a villian vamp, awkward dinner scene, and a girl captures her rapist, cuts off his penis and makes him eat it. Now guess who is writing what…. 😉

    Breaking for lunch now.
Stephen is on 7195 words and we hate him with his crazy speed typing.
Erin is on 4196 and needs to find out things about sailing, because apparently her characters got on a boat without asking. Melody is on 2800 and feeling good- really enjoying her first 10 K day.
Tracey is holed up in her office trying to hide from students. Darn those students and their pesky questions! So she is probably editing today. Catherine is currently awol. Maybe the writing monster is eating her and she can’t escape. She might have to do her own update. I’m up to 6227 and feeling a little *headdesk*, not sure what I’m going to do after lunch, but hey, that’s why we love 10K day!

Checking in from the Kiwi contingent. Stephen has headed home on 10,033 words. He’s awesome. We love that guy. (Interjections here, no actually we hate him!) Erin is on 6206 and is writing about violent deaths. Melody is on 4800 and is writing the back story of her super secret mystery novel. I’m on 9216, writing about a nudist beach. Catherine is on 5741 and she reckons she’s winding down. I dunno though.. she’s a bit of a dark horse that one.

Well, I conked out at 6102 words at 5pm. Not bad for me, really, considering my usual (though polished) daily target is 500. However, I feel I should be allowed to include this update in my word count. So make that 6144! 🙂

    Yay Catherine!

I have done my usual thing of hitting a wall at 5pm, with a word count of 7008. Have gone home, had a shower and some dinner, and am feeling refreshed and ready to go again. 🙂

Woke up after a good night’s sleep (so rare over at this end), even slept in a little, had breakfast and am now ready to start writing.

I have mint tea, made a new batch of pumpkin spice syrup the other day for my lattes, and have food ready for only transferring to a cup/plate and heating up. Plus a secret stash of chocolate covered crackers for when I might be in need of a sugar rush 😉

Since finding out I had today off from work and could participate in this 10K Day, I’ve been adding ideas and stuff to my “10K” list.
I’ll be writing one or more travel articles, and am aiming for several blog posts to have at the ready so I can schedule them throughout March and maybe even into April.
Some of the topics include: recipes, arts and crafts, heart mapping, curious lists and book spine poetry. It’s cloudy anyway, so I’m leaving the most fun posts, the ones involving the use of a camera for the afternoon/evening, just to make sure I won’t get too into the photography part of things and lose precious writing time 🙂

    Happy writing everyone!

Final check in from the Kiwis.
I have finished up with 9,069 words.
    Rachael topped 10,000.
Melody got just over 6,000, and is SUPER excited about the whole thing, safe to say we have a new convert.

We all had a great time, as usual 🙂

Banana, stroopwafel and pumpkin spice latte break. I have two blog posts written, and might just edit/insert the photo that goes with one of them to be able to schedule it and fully cross it off my list.

1 hour and 750 words into today’s writing. I started with journaling to flush the ideas out. Next up some blog articles and hopefully a short story or two.

    I’m here! 😀

Today I’ll be working on a lot of role-play stuff, with some of my own character stuff in between. My characters, Doc and Dakota, are part of the role-play, but I also have a storyline that I’m fleshing out for Dakota. He currently has a conversation going on in his blog with someone who’s recently begun stalking him. It’s been a lot of fun, and it’s helping me flesh out a certain storyline that I’ve been wanting to work on for a really long time. So, I’ll be doing these entries in between role-play stuff.

K, my partner in the role-play, often gives me prompts for either role-play supplements or AAU (alternate alternate universe) pieces to write. I’ll be working on some of those today.

I just had a Mystic Chai, and I’m about to have a cup of something decaffeinated — maybe instant decaf coffee.

I plan to write for roughly an hour and a half, then I’ll take a break, maybe take a shower and have something light to eat, then I’ll get back to it until about noon, when I’ll take a break for lunch.

The pinched nerves in my wrists are doing a lot better, so I’ll probably do some typing, but I’ll mostly be depending on the Dragon software. It’s really helped a lot in the past couple of weeks or so.

Anyway, here’s hoping for a very productive day.

OMG! I believe I just saw some flurries! 😀

Had an enforced writing break as I had to take the 13 year old to the gym for baton practice. When I returned, I typed up the blog article I wrote. It took a direction totally unexpected and had me working out some background setting and character development in my art program. Only about 500 to 600 words added this go around.

At the moment I have seven blog posts ready and a couple more only awaiting photos. Although the word count doesn’t even begin to reach 10k, I am pleased with how much I did write and how far ahead I managed to schedule things.
    I’ll stop now while I’m ahead 😉

It is so freeing to know there are blog posts to fall back on, and postpone when the muse wants to publish something different.

Thank you for the company, hope everyone has a wonderful rest of their writing day!

    Hi all!

At the moment, I’m stuck at work, but my concentration is shot due to the tons of snow outside. In Arkansas! Crazy that a week and a half ago, it was 80 with tornadoes popping up! Ah, weather of the south.

Since I have a few hours before I’ll be taken home (yeah, not driving in this stuff) and everyone else has gone home for fear of being stuck here overnight, I’ll take it slow and take a few more writing breaks. Despite staying up until 3 am, I didn’t do any writing yet (damn you, YouTube)!

    Happy writing!

Well, it’s been very slow going. I’m only at 2,247 words–all character journal entries for Dakota’s non-roleplay blog. I need to work on one of the roleplay prompts, but first, I need a shower! LOL

So, with that in mind, off I go. I’ll return later, after I’ve written something more, with another update. 🙂

A few more enforced breaks (picking up 13 yr old, lunch) later and a brief sidetracked trip into twitterville, I have another approximately 1000 words added to the total. Some character play a book review and some articles for a new blog that hubby and are starting. The twitter trip sparked a piece for that so I guess it wasn’t all lost. total sits at about 2300.

    February 20, 2013 | 5:56 PM

Quick update: my current word count sits at 3,165. That’s after writing the beginning to an AAU piece for the roleplay–about a blizzard. Two of the characters–one of mine and one of K’s–get stranded during said blizzard, and they face danger from another source, as well. So far, they haven’t arrived at their destination, and the storm hasn’t hit them yet. They think it will stay to the north of them. Boy, are they wrong! 😉

I want to work on something else, but I’m going to take a break.

And it looks like Hubby’s fixing dinner tonight. 🙂

I ended up writing a few more blog articles (some are in need of much editing) estimated total word count somewhere just over 3100. Calling it done for today and hoping to add to the count on Saturday.

    Hey all!

Last Wednesday, I only got around 2,000 words, which would normally be low for me, since I can get that amount in an hour if I really try. I’ve been super frustrated with my lack of writing recently, mostly because I know exactly what I want to write, but the moment I sit down to write it, I get a case of the ‘meh’s and end up playing around on YouTube or Tumblr instead.

After speaking with some other writing friends, I realized that if I’m writing a story and just dishing words out right and left, I’m just writing to get the words out. But, the moment I plan and outline and get a rigid structure to the story, I clam up. Last Wednesday, a friend told me to start new and gave me a prompt. I managed to bash out a little story (the 2,000 words) and that just further proved that I do so much better without outlines or structures on paper. I know where it’s going in my head, but if I type it out all official like, my brain considers it written and refuses to cooperate.

    Oh, the crazy writer brain.

That said, using the new method, I’ve written 1288 today so far. I’ll be back when I wake up (around noon, huzzah weekends!) and can’t wait to write more!

The family had other ideas than writing today. I have managed to sneak in about 1250 words on some journaling and short blog articles. I learned that Saturdays are not my best writing day because there are far too many things that can derail the process. It is good to know as I plan my days and weeks. Any Saturday writing then becomes a bonus instead of a frustration that my plans were changed.
