It’s been slow going. We’ve been to classes and had lunch, and have been back to it for a couple of hours. I’m now at 3,791 and have been writing from a dogs perspective.
Karl is on 3,741 and is writing about a living labrynth.
Melody has finished the first act of her screen play, which has required many trips to the library.
Stephen is on 580 words, doing a technical report 🙁

Erin, thanks for the report. Over the years that I’ve been doing 10K Days, I’ve found that inevitably there are times when it just feels like a slog no matter what you do. But still so worth it, even if that feeling only comes in retrospect. 🙂

Hope everyone has some wonderfully productive writing 10K days!

I have today off, but have to fill it with spring cleaning, editing/scheduling/e-mails… Hoping I can at least squeeze in some reading time for tonight.

As excited I’ve been about being able to attend on Saturday, it won’t happen. My shift changed so I have to go in to work 🙁
Plus, to my horror, next week I have four consecutive 12-hour-shift days in between regular 8-hour ones. *could cry*

OK. I’m awake, dressed, fed, and at the computer. Time to start writing!

My plan for today is to do as much as I can of the list of scenes that are next for my book. We’ll see how it goes.

I’m not feeling super energetic, but I was in worse shape yesterday. I’m hoping I can get the word count up quickly and take lots of breaks throughout the day.

    Good luck to everyone!

AS always, I started with some journaling to shake some ideas out and slay the fear and doubt before moving on. First stretch break for me at about 750 words. Working on some blog entries next and a short story that my dad said, “You have to write that down”.

I do lots of journaling to help me get my thoughts down and shake things up. Glad to see I’m not alone! I hope you are counting your journal entries towards your word count!

I do indeed count my journalling in my word count. It gets me started and is an important piece of the day.

Ready for my second break my daily lunch engagement at the school with 100 or so middle year students.
this stretch was slower going but I think I managed about another 800 words. I find it hard to get into rhythm with short articles.

Time for session #2. 1700ish words so far. Hope I can get back into the scene I was writing.

My lunch break took longer than I intended, but I’m back and settling in again. Word count so far: 3539.

This afternoon’s session is progressing at a snail pace as I found my self stuck on some details and went to look them up. I’ve added about 500 words bringing my total to about 2000 or so. And I’ve lost my notes from the last month making it hard to move forward so I’m starting new projects which is always slow going.

Hang in there, Lori! Today’s the first 10K day in months that has gone well for me, but I am glad I stuck with it on those “bad” days, because looking back, I still got some good and important stuff done. Every word counts!

I have hit my stride (and found my story at the same time, which is a relief, because I have been floundering for weeks now). Just clocked in at 7648 words. Some of that is journal entries/notes, but most of it is my novel. Yeah! Time for another break and then back to it.

Not far yet, but there’s more to write tonight. Maybe between tonight and Saturday I’ll get close to 10k!

    • Kit Dunsmore
      March 27, 2013 | 10:22 PM

Woo hoo! Not only did I hit 10322 today, but I also 1) got a lot of new material written for the beginning of my book and 2) did not get through all the scenes on my to-write list. I’m particularly happy about the second thing, because I was afraid I would run out of material, and considering how long it took me to figure out what needed to be in the opening of the book, I was not looking forward to being back to thinking-cap stage.

Hope everyone else has had a productive day and done some writing and most of all had fun.

      Time to stretch!

Moved to the track for a writing session as DD had pole vault practice. The energy there was inspiring. I finished the first draft of a short story (1000words) and started another(250). plus a few various bits since last check in (100). Lots of editing will be needed but at least there is something to edit. estimated word count today = 2400. Hoping for another hour or two and maybe some on Saturday.

Getting tired. 🙁 Don’t think I’ll make it anywhere close to 10k, but I am getting a nice head start on my April A-Z blog posts. 🙂

Had a (very) late start. Writing something personally distressing and am having to ‘break out’ from it every once and awhile so I don’t lose it. Am using today to get this short story written, edited and sent in for a local comp. Word count is 1200, and limit is 1500, so mostly tidying now.
Will probably start the major writing on my long project later this afternoon.

I’m back for a bit today. Finished up Wednesday at about 3000 words hoping to add to it today. So far this morning my journaling adds about 750 words. Unfortunately it didn’t bring out the ideas it sometimes does.

Probably got to about 5000 words yesterday, but spent most of the day editing and re-writing my short story which is now sent away to be considered for publication 😀 So successful day!
