WELCOME TO ALL those plucky writers who are participating this week!
This is the place to post your check-ins for Wed, July 19 and/or Saturday, July 22.
If you’re participating from overseas, feel free to start according to your own time zone. This check-in page is posted the day before the USA event for that special purpose. 🙂
DON’T FORGET TO TAKE REGULAR BREAKS!
You’ll regret it later (when you’re feeling fried) if you don’t take regular breaks. Even if you’re on fire with your writing, take your scheduled breaks.
Every two hours is recommended. Breaks are also for posting check-ins.
WHAT SHOULD YOU POST FOR YOUR CHECK-INS?
TIP: If you don’t see your comment right away after posting, try refreshing your screen.
1. You can mention your word count if you want to. If you’d rather not, please comment about your progress thus far.
2. You can also describe what you’re working on.
3. Feel free to mention how you’re feeling and how the day is going for you.
4. It’s always fun to hear what people are drinking, snacking on or listening to.
DON’T FORGET TO log out of forums, Facebook, Twitter, email, etc.

I’m here. I need to grab some coffee and sit. LOL!

Dana!! Happy to see you here. We’re the only ones so far. So let’s write!
Twitter: fearofwriting
I’m here too. 😀 I just made coffee and now I’m ready to start. Working on a screenplay.
Hey there! So I’ve had a pretty busy morning preparing an article for our repository, which sums up to 1502 words, and typed some work e-mails as well which I’ll count, 300 words.
So that’s a total of 1802 words before 12am. The day is going well so far!
I have some training sessions to sit in on now, so see you in a few hours.
Happy writing to everyone joining today!!!
I’m here, but not here. Haha! Jeff works second shift, so I’ll be here after lunch (or 2:00 p.m., when Jeff goes to work). I just wanted to stop in and wish y’all good luck and tell you I’ll catch you later. 🙂
Hey, Lois, thanks for the check-in. Good to know you’ll be here later. 😀

Whoops, that reply was actually from me. I was logged into WordPress and accidentally replied as Estrella. 😀
Haha! No problem! 😀 I’m having lunch now, then I’ll dive right in an start writing. 🙂
Thanks, Dana. I’m not 100%, but I’m improving. 🙂

Hey Lois, I hope you’re feeling better. 🙂
Ooops! I responded to the wrong comment up there^. 😉

Just finished writing a scene. Only 318 words, but I guess that’s decent for a screenplay. I’m on a roll and don’t want to stop but I’m starving so gonna go make some breakfast.
Twitter: danapittman
I’m rolling. Sorta.
I’m about 2k in and it’s going slow. I’m writing a summary and working out the details of the story as I progress. It’s nuts how I scatter notes everywhere. SMH
I’ll consider today a HUGE success if I get this summary completed. So, that’s my goal.
I’m headed to lunch and then I’m back at it. <3
Twitter: millivrstravels
Wrote another 1,828 words, for a total of 2,146. I’m thrilled with my progress (though may have to cut some of this later).
Hungry again. Gonna go grab something to eat.
First “official” check-in: I’ve got 1,418 words so far. I think I started about an hour ago, maybe a little more, so that’s about average for me. 🙂
I’m going to heat up some water and make myself a cup of Breakfast In Paris tea, then get back to it.
Twitter: millivrstravels
Hi Lois,
Congrats on the 1,418 words after lunch. Did you make more progress after your Breakfast in Paris tea?
😀
I did, but I never had that tea. I set three teabags aside and started with a different kind. Only had two, and neither of them was the Breakfast in Paris. I’ll have it tomorrow, I suppose. 😉
Twitter: millivrstravels
Added another 1k words. Have to take a break for a while to attend a meeting. But thrilled with my writing day so far.
Twitter: danapittman
I added another 2k and a clean blurb. I plan to write for another half hour or so. I’m estimating that I’ll end around 6k or so.
Twitter: danapittman
I’m closing the night with just under 7k. I feel good. I didn’t finish the summary but I made progress. I look forward to finishing up tomorrow. Good night.

Awesome, Dana! So happy for you, my sweet friend. xo
Twitter: danapittman
Thank you. <3
Awesome word count! Way to go, Dana! 😀
Twitter: danapittman
Thank you!
You have the highest of words counts for Wednesday – yay you! Sounds like an amazing writing day for sure. Do let us know if you finish it up and what word count you get to 🙂
Twitter: danapittman
Thank you. I do well when I warn my family of my daily goal. And I’m completing chores today so I can write in the morning. 🙂
Well, I ended up searching for names and character models for part of my writing day, and I made graphics for today’s chapters.
With that in mind, I still added 1,697 more words. My end total for the day is 3,097, but I don’t mind. It’s more than twice as many words as I’ve been getting per day. That’s kind of what I was shooting for, so I’m satisfied. 🙂
And Jeff will be home shortly, so I’m done for the day. It’s been fun. I don’t know if I’ll be here on Saturday or not. It depends on whether or not he has to work. If he works, I’ll be here! 🙂
Twitter: millivrstravels
Nice results, Lois! Glad you’re happy with your afternoon/evening of writing. I do hope you can join us on Saturday.
Your wish is my command. 😉 Jeff’s not sure if he has to work on Sunday, but he does have to go in on Saturday. So as with yesterday, I’ll be here after 2:00. 😀
That’s great, a very good effort since you’ve also searched for names and such. Double what you usually write is a very good writing day indeed!
Thanks! 🙂
This also happens to be a case of pantsing the story. I’ve got the main elements down, but almost none of the details to lead the characters from the beginning to the middle to the end. I’m going to plan out the next few chapters (at least) today so I’ll have something to go on come Saturday. 😉

Took a long, long break because my brain cells felt burned out. Just added another 1k for a total of around 4,000 words. Now it’s bed-time. Looking forward to the Saturday 10k day.
Oh yay, 4K is very good!
Sorry to hear you needed a long break, but best to rest instead of trying to power through. Don’t know about you, but I always function better, hence write more, when I’m rested enough.
Here’s hoping you’ll be even more rested for the weekend and have a higher word count on Saturday!
I agreed to help a colleagues wife out by editing a paper for her, so I’ll be around on Saturday, too. It might be fun to keep track of exactly how much I add to the document, and maybe squeeze in writing a blog post or two of my own before the BF gets home in the afternoon 🙂
See you Saturday, Milli!
Awesome, Milli! 😀
I still remember my first 10K Day when I wrote over 15K words. Still don’t know how I did it. Haha! I’ll be happy to get 4K this coming Saturday. 😉
Hah, thanks for copying my comment over to this post, Milli, I totally didn’t check where I was writing my update :))
I ended up having about three hours worth of training sessions, so that was lost time… However, I did write another few work e-mails of 489 words total, and another article of 1362 words. So that’s 1851 words in the afternoon. I won’t count how much I wrote on skype, though since a lot of it was work-related maybe I should 😉
Anyway, it brought me to a total of 3653 word for the day. Considering I write about as much on a daily basis at the office, it’s a pretty good average to reach.
Great word count! 🙂 If I write that much every day, it hurts my hands, so you’re lucky. 😉
My Saturday stared out well, I edited a paper for a friend, and then was inspired to write a couple of blog posts which total to 2996 words.
I just started writing another blog posts which I need to back-date (I’ve been neglecting my blog for too long and am now almost caught up), and then I’ll probably quit for the day when the BF arrives home.
If I can convince him to take the bikes out for a ride, I’ll be happy to leave the rest of my writing for another day 😉
Twitter: millivrstravels
Estrella, what a lovely update to kick us off for the Saturday 10k day. Good job on 2996 words. I’m betting you did more than that but got interrupted before you could file another update.
Enjoy the bike riding. 🙂

I’m getting a late start: It’s almost 9:30 in Tucson, AZ. But sleeping in felt great. 😀
I’ve got my coffee next to me. Gonna do a quick review of where I got to on Wed and then dive in.
Twitter: millivrstravels
Feeling stale this morning (maybe too much sleep??) and not inspired to work on my screenplay just yet. I decided to take out a Kindle book I wrote last November and start editing it. The goal is to eventually get it up on Kindle but I’ve been procrastinating about the editing. So this feels like a productive way to beat the blahs.
Now I’m hungry so I’m off to make an omelet for a late breakfast.
I’m late, even later than normal, but I’ve been working. I’m not sure what my total word count is so far, but it’s not a lot. I made a graphic for this next chapter (it gets me into the creative mood and gives me a visual of the characters and, sometimes, a setting.
I’ve got some decaf, and I’ve started this chapter, so time to get back to it. 🙂

Hi Lois!
Are you still there? I’m still here. Are you having a good writing day?
Milli
I’m still here. I’m going to do one more writing session, then stop for the night. But first, I need dinner.
First session came to 870 words. A short chapter.
Second session came to 1,634 words, so a longer chapter.
Total so far is 2,504 words. It will be easy to reach 3K, but I’d like to get to 4K if possible. Much more than that, and my hands will be sore afterward, even with breaks. 😉
So I’m off to fix a quick dinner (shrimp and stir-fry veggies with herbs, Celtic sea salt, and black pepper microwaved in a small casserole dish), then get back to it. 🙂

Just spent 4 hours continuing with the revising and editing of my Kindle book. It’s going well but impossible to figure out a word count.
Now I’m starving and need a break. But I’ll be back to work on it some more. Now that I’m on a roll with it, I’ll probably just stick with this and go back to my screenplay tomorrow.
Ooh, revising and editing is fun! I’m not much good at it, but when I start doing it, I can spend hours on it. 🙂
Last check-in:
This last session only gave me 805 words. My hands started hurting, and I got to a good stopping point, so finished the day in the middle of a chapter (something I only occasionally do). So I’ve got a great place to pick it up later! 😀
My final word count for the day is 3,309. My novella is at 20,486 words. 10K day has given me over 6K words altogether. Yay! *happy dance*
I hope it’s going well with the revising and editing, Milli! Good luck. 🙂
Twitter: millivrstravels
Awesome, Lois! Glad you got to end your writing day with a happy dance. 3,309 words is lovely! And 6k overall is great. So happy for you about the novella being at around 20k. That’s such a good feeling!
See you at the 10k next month! 😀
Thanks, Milli! 😀
And I’ll be here! 🙂
Twitter: millivrstravels
I got over-engrossed in my editing and revisions and I’ve kept at it way too late. It’s 10:30pm here and I haven’t even eaten any dinner. Plus, being on the computer screen so late into the night tends to give me insomnia. Bad girl! I should have practiced more balance.
But I got lots done so that’s the silver lining.
Oh, boy, I never get over-engrossed in my work. 😉 Actually, I love it when I do! But my hands don’t. Haha!
Yay for getting lots done! 😀
